What helps improve osteoporosis without medication?

Posted by imatine @imatine, Dec 4, 2020

Hello, did anyone here try to heal from osteoporosis away from all the prescribed medications we all know of? Did you try following a specific diet? Excercise? Meditation, etc. ? Thank you

I bought a Marodyne LIV device too. Still waiting for delivery. I’m scheduled to have a repeat Dexa scan in November 2023. Hopefully the result will show some improvement.

I have heard of many ladies improving quite a bit from yoga. Specific yoga exercises done carefully can help. We also need 85 to 100 grams of quality protein in order to get enough of the amino acids and nutrition to build bone. I saw an episode about osteoporosis by Dr. Mark Hyman who talked about his patient doing yoga and improving her numbers dramatically. I see a functional nutritionist via zoom who works with him. He believes food is medicine. He is a well known board certified functional med and internal med docotor.

@mtran88788 I too am awaiting delivery of the Marodyn LIV. Don’t be dismayed if you don’t see a bump in your BMD scores in November. I was told by those in that actual business that you must use it for a year to a year yr and a half to see results. And, also be aware that more of your gains may be realized in the trabecular bone area ( the inside architecture area of the spine for example) and that’s not captured on a DEXA. But I’m hoping to see a change in the DEXA as well!! Good luck !!!!

I wish I could get into see Dr Hyman but I don’t think he see many Patients anymore. I did a zoom visit with someone he works with and a zoom with his functional nutritionist who was very helpful. Her name is Eileen Botte and she has access to and works with top nutritionist and doctors at the Cleveland clinic.
My numbers are much lower than most and I am about to start my journey with yoga, supplements, good sleep hygiene, meditation and a stress free life and tymlos. I am 64 and still might add hormones into the mix a few months after I start tymlos.
Don’t wait too long before adding in meds. I did that and it’s frightening now. I wish I would have taken HRT years ago. My mom did most of her life and had no bone issues.
Wishing you all the best.

She is really amazing. Food is so critical with bones. Dr. Mc Cormick even told me that if some patients had a hard time taking meds he would have them change their diets and eat healthy for a year and then they tried meds again and did fine. Your body needs to be well fed and ready.
This is her website. She is worth every penny.
