What steroid dosage did you start on? Did you find the right dosage?

I started on 40 mg of prednisone -- my inflammation was a 69 -- I have been on 40 since late February and taking 10Mg of Methotrexate for 2 months -- My appointment with a Rheumatologist is June 21, so my family doctor has been trying his best -- We tried to cut the prednisone down to 20 but within a week the pain and immobility was back - even on 40mg my monthly labs still have my inflammation at 63 -

My doctor started me on 15mg prednisone daily. I have dealt with fibromyalgia for over 20 years and take Tramadol daily... that didn't help at all. I was on that dosage for two weeks and needed to split the dose morning and night or be in pain the next morning. It was lowered to 12.5 a couple days ago and I'm adjusting. Where 15mg took 100% of the pain away, I'm about at 90%. I had asked to stay on that dose but he was adamant. I am to be on this at least 30 days and we'll see. He did diagnose this where the ER didn't so that is something.
One problem is I've been losing weight, 11 pounds the past two weeks alone. I have read prednisone is associated with weght gain so perhaps that's yet to kick in.

My weight has jumped up by 30lbs now

I know that pmr can cause weight loss and the corticosteroids weight gain which is temporary. May I ask how long you've been on the prednisone?

Oh late February, just saw that. Yo are ahead of me by a few months. I'll just be patient since I don't have any other worrying symptims outside of the weight fluctuation.
I wouldn't be surprised if I need to go back up a bit with the dose though because of pain.

Is anyone else on “methylprednisolone” or just prednisone? I know methylprednisolone is stronger than prednisone, and I started at 16 mg. Now down to 4 mg. I don’t know if the pain I have is spine related or PMR. Hard to tell.

Started at 20 mg of prednisone in late November while I had extreme pain in hips, legs, shoulders, and neck. Was basically not functioning. Much of my pain was relieved within 24 hours and I was back to fill functioning in another 48 hours. (I’m a yoga teacher)
I’m at 8 mg finishing a 3-month trip in India. Tried to go down to 7 but there was too much I couldn’t do at that level. I plan to try to go down to 7.5 mg when I get home later this week.

Hi, which test gives an inflammatory number? Just curious. as I will as for that with the next labs.

I started on 40 after I left the hospital, however, in the hospital they gave me a 1000mg a day - honest. I am now at 2 mg a day, and trying to get down to one.

My weight typically plummets with any major stress situation and add physical pain, forgetabout it. I will call my doctor today but I have only been on prednisone for just under three weeks.
