Whole Body Vibration for Osteoporosis
I’m looking into Whole Body Vibration to aid in bone building for osteoporosis. I’ve read that Low Intensity Vibration is better than high intensity. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Maybe you can put a hard surface between the carpet and platform? Of course, I have no idea if it’d still be effective.
It may help your husband if he’d be able to stand on it. I sort of feel it’d be beneficial to someone who is depressed.
I replied to another post about this topic. The Royal Osteoporosis Society in the UK has comments on vibration therapy. https://theros.org.uk/latest-news/2020-11-12-can-vibration-therapy-help-those-living-with-osteoporosis/
I found the Lifepro 4D Rumblex had a pulsation feature that appears to be low intensity, 30Hz at the 14-15 level. (Margaret Martin suggested her machine made her teeth chatter just slightly, and that is the case with this machine at this setting). I don't recall the 'g' level. I have also added more protein to each meal, and a vitamin K supplement. Not sure yet if this is going to add up to better bone health. I'll find out in October.
I bought the VT003F Linear Vibration Plate on Amazon. I like it but I haven't had a new Dexa scan to see if there is any improvement. This equipment is in addition, not a replacement, to what you are already doing for bone health. By itself is not enough. From what I have read vibration therapy has many benefits. I also use redlight therapy and visit a functional medicine chiropractor. I have not used oral or injectable meds. Nasty stuff IMO.
Agreed that they are expensive but are they worth it? Thanks.
Hi @vinny101, I guess it depends on a person's resources and what other forms of exercise she or he can perform. The Marodyne LIV cannot run on carpeting so it's not practical for my house. I opted instead to do Dr. Loren Fishman's yoga routine (on YouTube) which has been studied and found to increase bone density, "12 Poses vs. Osteoporosis" if you want to Google it.
Margaret Martin posted a short video on the benefits of the Marodyne LIV:

She explains how it has it has been found to be beneficial for improving the lumbar spine, in post menopausal women particularly when a person's options for exercise are limited.
A few Connect members have posted about using them, but I'm not sure where their comments are. You may be able to find them by searching for Marodyne LIV. Best, Teri
Thanks. I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis. Little scared and confused. Definitely want do something without taking drugs. Saw the VT003F Linear Vibration Plate on Amazon too. What is your experience using this machine so far, (know that you have not done dexa since then) Would you be kind enough to tell about it and how you use it? I will also try the exercises that you mentioned above. About Merodyne LIV, except few UK women, I have not seen any testimonials anywhere including Youtube.
I had an Eilison Bolt, which I used for nine months, then ditched it after reading Margaret Martin's review of vibration plate exercisers and warnings not to use a High Intensity vibration plate exerciser, only a low intensity vibration plate exerciser.
If you search for whole body vibration exercisers, you may be able to find the comments about the Marodyne LIV. I will look and try. If not, @johnbishop might be able to help.
Hi Teri @tsc, Here is the post by @naomid that links to two studies that show the effectiveness of Marodyne LIV. -- https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/860853/. I think that @dmanduca has one and may also be able to share their experience.
*Edit - I posted a link in the same discussion as the link above that has a YouTube video Marodyne LiV Vibration Platform Review and another reference link to a study. - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/860804/
Thank you, John.
I’ve had mine and used it twice a day for the last 6 months. I feel it works but I won’t have a Dexa scan until Nov. For me it was worth the cost.
