My mom has Alzheimer’s. Is it possible to control her anger ?

Is it possible to control moms anger and lashing out . She keeps hitting her carer and I when we refuse to give her extra sleeping pills and rock candy.?
She is linking being slightly over weight to not going to the bathroom enough ( she has bowel movements almost every day) And she links not going to the loo enough to not having enough sleeping pills.

My Moms Geriatric Doctor had her on seroquel for agitation. It made all the difference.

Thanks for your comment. My mom is also on seroquel. A total of 75mg per day.
How much has your moms Dr prescribed for her?

It’s been awhile. Mom died in 2018.
I believe it was 300 mg a day.

Has your doctor tried Risperidone? It worked well for my DH when Seroquel didn’t. He wasn’t violent but had severe agitation.

No not yet.
The increase of dose for seroquel to 75mg has helped a little for know. I think the dosage can be increased to 300mg. But the dr is taking things a step at a time.
I’ll discuss your suggestion with him next time I see him .
