Reclast Infusions: Side-effects & Recovery time
I just had a reclast infusion last week and have had serious side effects. I had the worst flue like aching for 5 days then my lefty arm became full of inflammation in the wrist, elbow and shoulder which caused extreme pain and I lost the ability to straighten my elbow. Ultrasound showed huge amounts of fluid throughout the arm. The right arm is now starting to have the same symptoms. The pain is excruciating. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Neither the ER doctor nor the Dr. who prescribed the procedure knew what to do to ease the symptoms. Both arms from fingertips to shoulder are swollen and neither elbow will straighten. Anyone else have adverse reactions to the reclast infusion? If yes, how long did it last?

Wow! I won’t get another treatment either
Did Dr tell you to drink alot of water before during and after. Along with tylenol
Hi.
No I was told there was no prep needed..., when I inquired I was told there was a very small percentage of people who actually had side effects...mostly headaches, fever, general malaise and flu like symptoms. The nurse who administered the infusion said the last time she did was 2 years ago...she said very few people get reclast.
I was told to hydrate and take tylenol, and request a slow infusion.
The instructions from the company say to drink 2 glasses of fluids a couple of hours before the infusion if you like your kidneys and want to keep them functioning.
I’m so sorry you’re having such difficulty. There is such variability in people’s response to these drugs. I have some fatigue and definitely joint pain in my hands but especially in my knees. I’m walking (sometimes through pain) and getting PT which has helped so much. I agree w another reply. Hydrate profusely starting the day before treatment unless you have other medical issues preventing you. It makes a huge difference.
I hope you feel better each day.
Same here I know how bad you feel. My GP put me on prednisone for 7 days and it helped a lot. I told my rheumatologist never again
Are you feeling better from your Reclast infusion? If so, how long did you suffer after the infusion? I hope you are feeling better. I have been sick since having my Reclast infusion. I would love any suggestions that you may have.
Did anyone have Reclast with chronic kidney disease?
I ended up in the ER with in 8 hours with severe thoracic back and stomach pain. ER doctors ran tons of test. Only discharged me with diagnosis reactions to the infusion. It lasted for about 2 weeks and I will never get another infusion of reclast.
