I guess I must be the lucky one, been on Orgovyx for almost a month and haven’t experienced any hot flashes or fatigue issues. I have been undergoing Proton therapy since May 2, with about 10 more sessions to go. Except for some brief urinary urgency issues, things seem to be fine. Hope I’m not speaking too soon👍
There are various medications available......ask your doctor
I found a blog post that gabapentin helps with hot flashes. Ask your doctor for a prescription. Best to you. PS I have beengoing through the proton beam therapy with Eligard hormone therapy. I am experiencing multiple side effects and will ask my doctor to discontinue the injections. My quality of life is worth more than quantity of life.
I got the next 3-monthly shot of my Zoladex injection, my third (something similar to Eligard) on 23rd. The hot flashes and sweating which had all but disappeared have come back again. I think it will trouble me for 2-3 weeks and then again it will be ok.
Thank you for the information, all the best to you.
Hi, Hot flashes were one of the most aggravating aspects of my Stage 4 prostate cancer experience. My wife shared something that helped her when she was going through menopause. Black Cohosh ! I guess that women have been sharing this between themselves for many years. It is also inexpensive and easy to find. Any vitamin store, CVS or Whole Foods carries it. I take one capsule in the morning, and one capsule just before going to bed. Occasionally I forget. When I do the sweats return like gangbusters. So, I know that it is making a difference. Since Black Cohosh is a vitamin supplement, it is not verified by the AMA. But, you have nothing to lose by trying it. I suspect that relief is just a capsule away.
I had hot flashes after radiation therapy and during Orgovyx treatment. The hot flashes continued for about 2 months after finishing a 4 month course of Orgovyx treatment then tapered off over the 3rd month. My initial PSA was 5.7 and my most recent (6 months post treatment was .27. The sexual side effects (which could be related to either or both) have not improved at all but I am glad to not have hot flashes any more. Consumerlabs.com mentions the use of soy isoflavones and black cohosh for hot flashes but I have no further knowledge or experience. And this was concerning female menopausal symptoms. The only mention in men was that one study showed an increase in advanced prostate cancer in men with a higher dietary intake of soy isoflavones so that would indicate caution.

How has your recovery from Orgovyx progressed?
Fatigue and "wooziness " are my issues 4 wks after finishing 4 mos of Orgovyx (together with IMRT 37 sessions for BCR.
From Bill who experienced prostate surgery in 2019, the same as you with radiation concurrent with Orgovyx in 2022. 4.5 month's after stopping orgovyx, hot flashes finally starting to dissipate, still experiencing some fatigue but less and never experienced wooziness. Some trouble staying asleep with random aches and pains. Basically slowly recovering.
The hot flashes are completely resolved although I feel I am more sensitive to the summer heat than in past years. Fatigue is better but not back to my baseline.
