Any new experiences with Azilect (Rasagiline) as a monotherapy?
Hi! I’m new to this group. I was recently diagnosed with early stage Parkinson’s (tremor dominant). I have left side tremors in my hand/arm and leg; mild bradykinesia of my left hand and some mild left arm/shoulder/hand rigidity. My mobility and balance are excellent and I exercise daily with a variety of exercises (Rock Steady Boxing, fast walking on a treadmill, Smoovey vibrating rings, weight lifting, and exercise/stretches with physical therapy resistance bands).
My PD/movement disorder specialist does not think I need any medication at this time, but he suggested that I consider taking Azilect (alone) since it MIGHT have some disease modifying properties. Generally, I like to avoid medications, but if I can find people who truly believe that Azilect as a monotherapy has slowed or stabilized their progression I would love to hear their stories But I would also love to hear the stories of those who have taken Azilect as a monotherapy and have experienced no stabilizing or improvement of their PD.
I have searched through all of the existing posts on Azilect, and I am looking for new information/experiences.
Thanks and God bless you all!

Thanks for the information! Can you tell me if you do specific exercies with the Smovey Vibrating rings and where did you purchase them? My husband does RSB also but needs something to help with freezing episodes, mobility, balance and stiffness.
Thank you and God Bless.

Hi Barb!
I just composed of a detailed response, but because I am a new member to this message board, they won’t let me post any links and they won’t let me message you directly. So unfortunately, I can’t be of much help because I bought the Smovey rings online and most of the exercises I do with them are on YouTube. If you do an Internet search on the “Smovey Vibroswing System” you should be able to find them. And if you search for these terms on YouTube, you should be able to find the videos:
“Smovey : Antje's Top Mobility, Strength, and Balance Exercises For Beginners” and
“Gabriosa Life“
Hope this works!
Blessings,
Tracy
@tptully, you're right. There is a brief period where new members can't post links. We do this to deter spammers and keep the community safe. You will be able to add URLs to your posts in a few days. Clearly the links you wanted to post are not spam. Please allow me to post them for you and for @bjleffelman.

Thank you so much Colleen!😊
Thank you so much Tracy!
There are many things out there that can be of help for Parkinson's patients, and most of the time I run across them by chance. It seems to me that at such an inexpensive cost, it is a no brainer but to buy them and be hopeful that they will help in some way.
Thank you and God Bless,
Barb
I agree, Barb! My thinking is, it’s not going to hurt me and it will definitely help me in some way, even if it’s just keeping my arms more mobile! However, I do think it is helping me in more ways than just that. I’ve been using them since last fall, and I feel like my mobility is at least the same as it was. And my one arm swing might even be a little better!?! And who knows what impact the vibrations are having on my nervous system/brain. And lastly, I think it’s kind of fun to do:) Please let me know how you do with them! Have a great Easter, Tracy
I started on Azilect when I was first diagnosed 7 years ago at the age of 54 to help slow the progress of my PD. I still take it, but have added Carbadova/Levodopa in the form of seminet and changed to a longer acting form called RyTary 4x every 24 hours. Attached images of a healthy DatScan and my disabled Brain scan
I’m also new to this site. I’ve been dx with Parkinson’s for seven years. My neurologist is starting me on Azilect to help with stiffness and cramping. He also believes it helps slow progression. Medicare won’t cover it and it’s ridiculously priced! I will be trying it tho. I cut back my cl from six to four pills daily and it’s helped! I do walk alot and think I may try Smovey rings after reading your post! Thanks!
Hello @tachimp
Are your PD symptoms well controlled with medications you are now using?
