Lone caregiver: looking to talk about cats, books, music, food, more..

Posted by bigmaya @bigmaya, May 2, 2023

Hello,
I'm a member with the caregivers but would like to hopefully find a couple of people to talk to about cats, books, music, food - most everything under the sun. Thanks🙏🪻

My cat drinks some water every day, but his favorite is a bit of milk.

Hello all cat people😺

Acc. to our terrific vet of 20 years kittens are either nursed by their mother respectivelly require a special formula. Grown up cats should never be given regular milk as their system can't process it.

You mentioned cats. I have had several cats throughout my lifetime. My current cat PICKED me when I went to the local Humane Society. He must have known something! He has been the sweetest ever, but I cannot let him go outside as it is too dangerous here with owls, eagles, fox etc. He has adjusted well to being inside only. I have screen doors for him to get a sniff of the outside, plus I have many hanging bird feeders for him to watch from inside. He’s such good company. We take “catnaps” every day after lunch.

That sounds great😺, lucky for him he found a good and safe home with you. Must be beautiful though to have owls, eagles, foxes as neighbors😉

@bigmaya Hello again. Yes, my husband and I are musicians and music scholars. We work in archives, (re)discovering music manuscripts long forgotten but often interesting and beautiful. Since you asked, I could share with you some of my writings, but I would have to send to a regular email address. I don't know if this is possible or how it could work. But let me know what you think. jshdma

Bigmaya, What a lovely response. Praying for you & your husband this a.m. I have a question as it sounds like you have had a long life with cats. Mine will simply not drink
water. He is on prescription Royal Canin canned food for his bladder and it has gravy in it, so I add the hydracare from Purina as well. Any suggestions to get him to drink water? Thank you precious lady! Hugs & Prayers...."People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care". -author unknown

My Missy doesn't drink much water and it makes her constipated, so when I give her wet food twice a day she gets it in a bowl with some psyllium husk and a lot of hot water (I call it 'soup'). She hates getting a mouthful of husks so I have to mash and mix it well. Her preferences vary, so I put out options and usually she goes for one or another -- tap water in one corner of the kitchen, filtered water at the base of her tree, bottled water beside her kibble dish. She always likes things clean, so I do a lot of that. Also, she seems to like the smaller containers ... might be so she doesn't have to put much effort into keeping her whiskers dry.

Yes, my taste is broad too! The Itzhak Perlman recording of Paganini's 24 Caprices is wonderful. I love rock too... the Eagles' Hotel California, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. One song I really love is Life's been good by Joe Walsh. And She's not there by Santana 😍

Missy sounds like a very spoiled lady cat😸 who knows what she wants, but being spoiled by their humans is their natural right😉 l will get back to you once l've heard from our vet.
