COVID, Paxlovid and other treatments for COVID

Posted by dmbteach222 @dmbteach222, Jun 3, 2022

Hello-

I was diagnosed with COVID earlier this week and started taking Paxlovid last night. 3 doses in and I have horrible diarrhea. I have intestinal issues as it is, and I had my colon removed due to Ulcerative COlitis years ago. I am thinking that the COVID symptoms were starting to improve without the Paxlovid, and I am seriously thinking about stopping it due to the horrible diarrhea and stomach pain. What do people think? Is it ok to stop after only 3 doses? I think that the COVID will run its course as I am boosted and youngish (43). The diarrhea is worse than the COVID symptoms I have been having the last few days.

I’ve been dealing with this hell for months and not getting any better. I’ve been reading a lot of posts from people getting this after the vaccine or booster and just wondered if anyone took paxlovid and got long Covid?
I took it the first week and really think it may be the cause of it. After taking it. I found it wasn’t FDA approved, just like the vaccine. If I would have known that, I wouldn’t have taken it. Well it’s too late now if it was the cause… 😩
Now I feel like my life is ruined/gone… 😔

I took it the first week I had Covid. I personally think that I probably would’ve died without it.

That’s what my husband said about me, I was bad. I’ve just been trying to piece together why this happened to me and thought maybe Paxlovid.
All I know is I’m just sick of all this and need it to be over. 😩

Has anyone tried taking Paxlovid to address long Covid? I found an article from November 7, 2022 in the NY Times that discusses this as well as one in The Atlantic from May, 2022.

Yes! I’ve had Long Covid for 9 months- tried all kinds of micronutrients- that I read clinical trials of-some a bit helpful- giving me 1 or 2 days a week with decreased exhaustion, these quit working at all, so I embarked on plan C which was getting a script for Paxlovid ( I had read where some people had good results ( some only partially good)
Got it from a teledoc who send script to Walgreens- had to wait a few days as they were out - good news- it was totally free from fed. government ( value $525.00)
5 days of doses- only side effect was metallic taste in mouth- evening of 3 day I could feel a real difference- which kept improving-now I am 3 weeks without symptoms- miracle!!! Brain fog, severe depression, debilitating exhaustion, pain, shortness of breath, r GONE— like I said- nothing short of a miracle for me

My son tryed valcyclovir and found it helped him think clearer. It´s related medicaion.
But how did you do it; did you stay on it perminently or take for shorter duration? For how long did you take it?
