Thank you for your reply. I am currently still taking an occasional narcotic and muscle relaxer but use the hot and cold therapy also which seems to help the most. I hope and pray that I heal and can walk better within a few weeks. At least I know I am not alone and that makes me feel better. I hope you feel better as well.
Hello
I had a total hip replacement 3.5 weeks ago on my left hip. I had right knee replacement 4 months ago on my right knee. I am an RN and I have very high pain tolerance. Ready you letter and the letter of others makes me scared. I too have horrible thigh pain on my operative side when I put weight on that leg. I only used a cane for 2 weeks with my knee replacement. It feels like deep thigh bone pain that is so severe I cry and cannot move. It lasts a whole day or more. Why can’t doctors find out the cause? We are not all drug seeking addicts that want to sit around in a drug induced haze. We want answers and pain relief. Nothing is more frustrating than not be listened to by your doctor. We need help!!
Don’t despair yet. It’s early days for you and your thigh issues may resolve. My understanding is that many people can have this for six months , then it goes away and they are fine. A few people give it even as long as two years, as long as they are seeing improvements during that time period. So, you may still find your problem resolves itself on its own. I even took Fosamax hoping it might help, but alas it didn’t work for me. You can keep doing physical therapy because it will help you a lot. An upright bike is great for not stressing joints. Unfortunately, I was one of the unlucky ones and despite doing everything I was told, I still have the problem after three years. Surgery was done in the summer 2017 by a highly rated surgeon. Mine shows loosening and I’m never really pain free. They say one measure of success is after a year you forget you had a hip replacement as you go about your daily life. I literally am aware of mine 100% of the time and it is awful. Don’t give up, get pain relief while you are doing physical therapy, keep in touch with your surgeon and tell him your symptoms. Give this at least six months and you might be fine. I wish you the very best and hope you get better soon !

So sorry, I would like to clarify something I wrote about using an exercise bike. That wasn’t part of the rehab physical therapy after the hip replacement. I used the bike a year after surgery as a way to exercise without stressing my new hip replacement, since it was a problem. I assume you are having physical therapy so you PT will give you the appropriate exercises. I hope your pain goes away and you feel better soon.

@lbosrig Just noticed your post about hip pain after replacement. I had both hips replaced, and my first side was a breeze. After the initial pain from surgery faded I could dance for joy as pain free. A year later I had the right side done expecting the same outcome. Unfortunately I was in for a depressing time of continual pain after surgery. At 6 months the pain seemed worse than pre surgery. I got no place with the surgeon in MI so, to make a long story short, 30 months after surgery I saw an orthopedic surgeon at Mayo who gave me an injection. It helped for 4 months so I made another appointment with her which was delayed two months due to COVID. When I saw her in July, she had made arrangements for me to have a guided injection done by a pain doctor. Five months after and I am still pain free. I am hoping that some way the pain will not find it's way back to me. It sounds like it may be to soon for you to get worried about it. Try to think positive! I am an example of worrying getting me nowhere, and I did find someone who listened to me at Mayo!
Thanks for the encouraging news. I live in northern Canada so I guess with the COVID I will have to wait for a closer place. I will look for a pain clinic . The local doctors don’t have any idea what to do. I suggested an injection but my orthopaedic doc said he was afraid of hitting the sciatic nerve. I guess a guided injection would help find the right spot. I try exercises as prescribed but they don’t help much. I find short walks of about an hour, going slowly do help. I am strong on my feet but the pain is always there. I appreciate all the help out there, thanks.
I have bad hip and leg pain. I was wondering if the revised leg was longer, yes by over 2 cm. I need new higher insoles in my shorter leg. I have older shoes with some lift .I will see a podiatrist as soon as I can, meanwhile I will double up on old ones. Hope it works, I will wear mismatch shoes in the house also. I had a hip replacement in 2005,a long time to live on pain killers.
Hello @belavita67, Welcome to Connect. I see that this is your first time posting here on Connect. You mentioned August 2020. Is this when you had your hip replaced? Are you still having pain?

Hello I had hip replacement surgery 10/15/18 and I am having issues lifting my leg and in constant pain. I received a injection in the psoas tendon and no relief . Now the doctor told me that I have psoas syndrome. Very frustrated with the hole ordeal.
