@vignalicreations, Welcome to Connect. I work in the Transplant Center at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Your referral can happen in two ways. You are welcome to call yourself, ask your questions and ask for an appointment. This is fine with Mayo as long as your doctors have given you your records so we can review those. However, you may wish to check with your insurance company to be sure they cover Mayo, and to be sure they don't require a physician referral. In the other instance, your doctors are welcome to call our offices as well to refer you. Our staff can let them know where to send your records for review. Mayo in AZ and FL both work in a similar fashion. You or your doctors can contact us using this information when you are ready: https://www.mayoclinic.org/departments-centers/heart-transplant/contact-us/occ-20212193. Best wishes to you!
To Answer your question on the tests, I was sent home at first after a few tests but due to another arrythmia with a fast heartbeat I went back to the er and after that they kept me until transplant. But in my case, I was having so many arrythmias like many per day so it was mainly due to treatment of those issues. So, the rest of the testing was done while I was in the hospital. But the normal method is a few days of testing as an outpatient. I'm sure every case is different as I became to sick to go home with how bad my heart had become. I had to be on IV drugs to keep me alive. Mine was not a normal case.
So if your someone that lives out of the area lodging may be needed. Your lucky there that summertime in Arizona is the lowest rates on hotels. I can suggest some hotels that are nice and nearby.
@vignalicreations, I've been offline and at Mayo Rochester for my annual checkup. I've lost track of time, and I want to check in on you,
Did your doctor make any connection/referral to Mayo Clinic or to any other transplant Center? Has there been any information about a scheduled appointment, yet?
How are you feeling?
