Anyone else experience Weight Gain with long COVID?

Posted by RMS @rinadbq, Oct 8, 2021

I have had ~30 pound weight gain since November 2020 when I initially had COVID. It seems disproportionate to my calorie intake. Any one else with this?

Has anyone had success getting Covid weight gain back off?? I’m sure it’s due to inflammation & perhaps spike protein issues. What’s the solution? It’s not ‘business as usual’…at least not for me. Low calorie & exercise does not budge the scale!

I’ve tried ozone therapy and hyperbaric chamber and they have helped. The inflammation is caused by lack of oxygen

I have gained 30 lbs since January when I got covid. Now I have long covid. I’m wondering what helps curb appetite?

Hi cherisnow55. Know how daunting this weight journey can be. I have found eat small low calorie meals every 2 hours helpful and we cant expect to loose weight during this challenging time as before. I have kept 5 lbs off for a month. Victory! Healing journey to you and all🌈

Agreed the inflammation is horrible. But they say my oxygen levels are OK. HOW! to get rid of that inflammation? On fire since Mar 2020 with exception being when on antibiotics, but docs don't want to prescribe them. Out of breath when walk, go up stairs, etc. Weight gain doesn't help. Dermatologist says the inflammation is why I can't get ride of planter's warts on feet and hands after 9 months of treatments. Says maybe high dosage of antacid would help. My DO says that may help too. Yet to do it.

I hear you. My progress has only worsened. More weight gain. More muscle, full body, joint pain. More brain fog and memory issues. EXTREME fatigue. Hand numbness all day long. Has anyone found any treatments, medications, or supplements that work? One thing I’ve noticed is that my bloodwork continuously shows high creatinine kinase. Which indicates muscle damage. The oxygen therapy seems to make a small dent but I am now at the point that my inflammation is so bad that they’re unable to get a blood draw to even do it. I’ve had to retire from my pro athlete career. No amount of dieting is helping. Went vegan for a year and nothing helped. Exercise swells me up. But if I don’t exercise then I’m not exercising. It’s been horrible. Does anyone have any solutions??

Have you tried anything yet? I seem to be having good results from taking the enzymes, Nattokinase & Serrapeptase, which work on destroying the microclots. Maybe do some research on that angle & see if it feels like a fit for you. Read the cautions, too, about who should it take them (if already on another blood thinner or BP meds). A few other protocols are discussed in these threads. Best of luck.

Thanks so much! Do you know about how long those take to begin to see results? I’ve been taking both for about 1-1.5 weeks.

Oh wow, really? Well, I guess everyone responds differently, but I had drastically less chest pain & tightness on first few days, then I overdid it gardening a bit bc I felt so good, & then had a few BAD days, but then better again. I had to take a break from now right now for a week bc I'm having a CT of my heart Thursday, but I plan to take them again soon a s I can, depending on the results of that. I'm not sure how long I should try it. I wish I had a neutral dr or some doctor who could advise me. It's so frustrating feeling like we have to figure this horrible thing out on our own.

Gotcha! I’m glad that you’ve seen results! Have you heard of any interventions that help with the inflammation specifically?
