Iron Depletion in Blood related to COVID?

Has there been any reports of iron depletion in the blood after receiving the Pfizer vaccine?

@facechomp

I have hemochromatosis, and regularly donated before receiving two Pfizer injections. My HGB was 144 prior to the jabs, and shortly after, I was iron-deficiency anemic. Colonoscopy showed no problems. The doctor gave iron injections. I asked him if he'd ever given iron injections to anyone with hemochromatosis before, and he said, "no, it's strange."
As expected, any doctor or pharmacist I've talked to about it looks it up on the government system, and says, "nope, no connection known."
I'm glad I have hemochromatosis, because all the iron-related numbers tanked. I still haven't been able to donate since before the Pfizer crap.

Maybe doctors and pharmacists need to take a look at this site before they dismiss any connection !

I had the two moderna shots in 2020. The first one I did not really notice any discomfort. The second shot I really had a reaction,spoke with various people and the consensus was that "I must have a very strong immune system fighting the virus."
I have never had headaches and since then I do get them.
Last year I was told I was anemic and to see a Hemotologist. Blood test done told it could be many things, in Jan. 2023 diagnosed with Walden storm Macrogllbelemia. Am presently in I guess watch and wait. Do not know whether there is a connection, have been told by one doctor that no there is nothing to indicate the shots caused my WM.
I only took the shots because I was scared not to. Has anyone else encountered reactions with vivid shots?

I found this post searching for reasons why I would lose so much iron in a year. I recently went to the ER for something totally unrelated. They took blood and all the sudden im being told I need a blood transfusion and admitted to the hospital. I spent 3 days in the hospital having ct scans, ekg, blood taken, etc. and answered a million questions. Left with referral for GI and hematology consults. I had surgery a year ago on my shoulder and a full blood panel right after. Everything normal. My hemoglobin at the hospital was 6.2. After the transfusion when I left the hospital I was at 7.1. Hematologist said I had basically no iron at 2%. Since I have had an endoscopy and colonoscopy with nothing found. Ive had 3 iron infusions and have been waiting for my follow up with hemotology coming up next month. I was diagnosed with severe iron deficient anemia/feropenia. Nobody understands why this would happen. Ive had no bleeding events, and regular non heavy periods. I was honestly hoping for an ulcer or something that would give me answers. The only thing different I have done is the moderna vaccine which after the second shot I started menstruating the very next day. Completely off schedule it was very light but I spotted constantly for almost a month. I went to the gyno for tests in that area as well. Nothing found. So I too am wondering if the vaccine may have something to do with it. Probably just grasping at straws but its alarming not knowing.

I too recently found my Ferratin levels are low at 8. I’m tired a lot. I gave blood twice last year because I hear about the need for more blood donations. It’s helpful to read it can take 6 months to build back the blood. Thank you. I don’t eat much meat but will start eating more broccoli and spinach and take Vitamin C with my iron supplement on an empty stomach.
Thank you for the discussion.

Vitamin C and Iron supplements might not do it. Vitatron C did nothing, Iron Folic did nothing (used to pre vax), Ferraris Sulffate constipated like crazy, Heart & Soil Life blood mildly helped but never increase. My Ferritin was 5 - my hair was falling out, dry skin, brittle nails, heart palpitations, super tired, and now bone pain. My PCP and Hematologist said the extreme low Ferritin was to blame. Did IV Iron at the end of last summer even though technically not anemic but my symptoms dramatically improved after 5 doses of IV iron. Level went from 5 to 128!!! Unfortunately over the last 8 months I've been steadily dropping and back down to 11 as of a week ago. For your health, please keep an eye on this and potentially get a Hematologist referral if you're experiencing any odd symptoms (especially any of the above I've listed).

Too many of us have the same story. it's the shot. It's just proving it and getting the medical community to actually look into it.

Iron… very low normal range. Iron saturation below normal at 17%. Fatigued after exerting the slightest. Heart pumps fast to get oxygen to body.
This condition had been on going for 9 months, Under VS Dr. Care. Doctor is stumped …I’m requesting hematologist and possibly cardiac screening….although EKG, Ultra Sound and Stress Test are good.
I am 77 year old male. Comments??

Check your Ferritin levels and CBC w/differential, too if you haven't... Iron isn't the whole picture. Iron transports oxygen but need the whole story on your blood. Technically I'm not anemic but my Ferritin went to 5 (should be above 80). Heart palp and stress test, ultra, and week long EKG all came back "normal" even with multiple flutters throughout the day sometimes lasting over a minute. No issue in colon/endo. IV Iron helped dramatically but haven't found anything else to "hold" my Ferritin levels up afterwards. Now going to try Feroglobin per Hematologist but sort of doubtful at this point that my system is able to convert Iron properly. Either way, hope you feel better and find answers!

@april10

Blood tests since taking the Covid vaccine and boosters have indicated extremely low iron saturation resulting from below range of iron in blood. This has been indicative in blood work for the past 10 months.

get a referral to a hematologist and consider IV IRON if no improvement in the next month with iron supplements. Don't wait until you pass out or worse! Supplements did nothing for me but IV Iron did. Good luck!

IV iron made my Ferritin go from 5 to 128 (!!). Still haven't found a supplement that works though to keep it up.. 8 months after IV iron and taking life blood supplements among others and my levels are 11 so time for IV Iron again... symptoms all came back too - my hair is falling out/brittle, brittle nails, heart flutters, tiredness, bone pain all to blame with this crap. Hope you keep your levels up and let us know if you find anything else to keep it there! Feroglobin is what I'm on now..
