Iron Depletion in Blood related to COVID?

Posted by stellm @stellm, Jun 11, 2021

Has there been any reports of iron depletion in the blood after receiving the Pfizer vaccine?

Anyone in this group fully recover from low Ferritin/Iron Saturation??

I did IV IRON late last summer but levels are down to 11 so here I go again with IV IRON...

I've been on an animal based diet with veggies for over a year, tried Heart & Soil Life Blood & Liver (keeps me out of anemia), Ferrorus Sulfate (constipated crazy), Nutrilite Iron Folic (keeps me out of anemia and platelets higher but Ferritin still low), Vitron C (nothing) - and now I'm suggested to take Feroglobin or a liquid Iron.

ANYONE find a solution to keep Ferritin up with IV Iron every 6 months? Hematologist is at a loss...

You seem to have the exact opposite of my problem?Ferrous sulfate goes straight through me??I think I have a peptic ulcer caused by xpili bacteria?I am eating wendy's ice cream to attempt to heal the ulcer.I am pretty sure the iron damaged my villi in my stomach? I took about 5 flagyl antibiotic pills for the xpili and that is when my blood counnt went haywire..I discoved fried plantain has 1/4 your iron needs per ounce in a chip form from honduras via new orleans..deep fried in palm oil..Thanks for the feroglobin info..

I found this post searching for reasons why I would lose so much iron in a year. I recently went to the ER for something totally unrelated. They took blood and all the sudden im being told I need a blood transfusion and admitted to the hospital. I spent 3 days in the hospital having ct scans, ekg, blood taken, etc. and answered a million questions. Left with referral for GI and hematology consults. I had surgery a year ago on my shoulder and a full blood panel right after. Everything normal. My hemoglobin at the hospital was 6.2. After the transfusion when I left the hospital I was at 7.1. Hematologist said I had basically no iron at 2%. Since I have had an endoscopy and colonoscopy with nothing found. Ive had 3 iron infusions and have been waiting for my follow up with hemotology coming up next month. I was diagnosed with severe iron deficient anemia/feropenia. Nobody understands why this would happen. Ive had no bleeding events, and regular non heavy periods. I was honestly hoping for an ulcer or something that would give me answers. The only thing different I have done is the moderna vaccine which after the second shot I started menstruating the very next day. Completely off schedule it was very light but I spotted constantly for almost a month. I went to the gyno for tests in that area as well. Nothing found. So I too am wondering if the vaccine may have something to do with it. Probably just grasping at straws but its alarming not knowing.

After my second moderna in early 2021, 2 months later I had started getting periods from hell. Walking out of restaurants with sweaters wrapped around my waste. They have calmed down since but I am now anemic and last iron was 15 and ferritin was 2.6. Hematologist has me taking iron orally and will retest soon. In the meantime GI is fine (upper and lower tests done).
I submitted to vaers.org of my side effects from the vaccine. I just received an email requesting my medical records. Anyone else do or receive this??

Too many of us have the same story. it's the shot. It's just proving it and getting the medical community to actually look into it.

I found this that claims gut bacteria prevents the shot from working correctly..

May take probiotics next?

I realize this is an older topic, however my PCP has been monitoring my Iron, Ferritin, Hematocrit and Hemoglobin levels since June of 2022. All levels are below normal and despite all attempts to correct my levels/values, we've only been able to raise my Iron level slightly. I have been getting regular blood draws every 6 to 8 weeks to monitor and try different things to increase my deficient levels with little to no success. It seems clear this is related to the Pfizer COVID vaccine and booster I received, as I've NEVER had issues with my blood or these levels prior to receiving this vaccine. My primary concern (fear) is this leading to other serious health problems including the Anemia that I now have as a result of the aforementioned. I am a career Firefighter and was required to take the vaccine to keep my job. We have several other Firefighters that I work with whom also are suffering from the same issues as myself or problems with blood clots forming throughout their body. We all are doing what we can, but most of us aren't getting any remedies that are effective or working. Are there any treatments, experts or therapeutic care options we can explore to begin helping to correct these issues, is there any good advice someone can point us in a direction to? Thanks for any input!

I’m in the same boat, it’s so discouraging. Have you had an iron infusion? That was the only thing that increased my iron levels, will be getting tested soon to see if they are still in an acceptable range. Oral supplements did not work at all.

Same. Nurse - work mandated vaccines and booster.
Is the iron infusion an ongoing need? Does it hold it or does the iron dwindle back down to need another?

I will find out if the infusion held soon, I’ve only had one infusion. After endoscopy, colonoscopy, CTs etc they have have not been able to identify any internal bleeding which would account for this drop in iron.

Thanks.Is there a substitute?

Ask your doctor about a substitute.
Do you mean /helicobacter-pylori ?
Flagyl is an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections of the vagina, stomach, liver, skin, joints, brain and spinal cord, lungs, heart, or bloodstream.
After some research I found Amoxicillin is also prescribed for H. pylori
