Slow degradation of my vision. Seeing a retina specialist
After a slow degradation of my vision, especially close as in computer usage, saw optician and after eye exam, received new lenses. Not much improvement, so I scheduled appointment with an ophthalmologist, who diagnosed very dry eyes, but with bleeding behind the retina in my left eye. Referred me to a retina specialist whom I see tomorrow. Any ideas what could be causing this other than retina detachment? About two years ago, had laser treatment for floaters. Wonder if this is related to that procedure. Can this also be related to a vascular problem? Thanks!

@rosemarya Thanks very much for the welcome. A positive attitude takes us a long way.
My story is that I was born deformed, the doctor fractured my jaw, and this grew inside of my skull, so my eye sockets are elongated instead of round. My eyes are VERY long, hence, I have a tendency for detachments. I get injections when the retina starts to tear and the eye starts to leak, it used to happen every 3 months, but it hasn't happened in about 9 months! Yay! I have learned not to touch my eyes, it is so instinctive, isn't it?
Yes, I tried uploading a picture of Pequis who rescued me while I was living in the central desert of Australia. I am training her to be a therapy dog, as she is a natural one 🙂
Thanks for sending the link to pets an healing, yes, they are our furry angels on Earth!
Wishing you all the best!
@isaosunagatty - When you make a reply, there is a place to post a photo. However, as a new member there is a brief waiting period before you can do that. I am not sure of the number of days, but you should be able to post the picture before too long.
Yay, for the 9 month injection free spree! Do you feel the detachment when it happens or is it a visian change?
@rosemarya Thanks for your message, I am getting used to the system 🙂
I was lucky to see a specialist visiting from Canada during my visit to the eye hospital who told me that I was about to have a detachment, my vision was so poor, that I think I wouldn't have been able to tell. I did see flashes and very weird stuff. He had booked me for surgery the next morning, I was blessed to have him see me the day before.
Yes, you are right. "Furry Angels on earth".
That is similar to my experience light flashes and light specks when closed my eyes. That happened on a Saturday. I saw PCP on Mon. Opthamologist on Tue., Retina Specialist on Wed.
I was equally blessed because the visiting retina specialist spends 2 days each month in town, and that was when i got to see him. It was so convenient because he shares office space with my opthamologist!
@rosemarya So lucky indeed! 🙂 Wondering if you are taking supplements. I take ICaps, and they seem to work. 🙂
@rosemarya For my vision problems my Dr told me to get ARD with vit-min Perservision she said it's perscribed for M D. And glucoma after a year my eyes have stayed the same so we are pleased I go for visual fields and OTC picture yearly also
@lioness My edema has improved, I decided to take them, as I thought it wouldn't hurt, when specialist checked me, he asked if I had been taking vitamins, so he was quite impressed 🙂 Here in Australia, we don't have the variety you have in the States, I buy them when I visit my family in the US.
