Unknown Body Odor
I need help! I've got a bad odor coming from my body, that I can't smell. Yes it's hard to explain. Doctors think I'm making it up. In public people avoid closeness, coughing, holding their noses, avoiding me at all cost. I'm a prisoner in my home. Don't venture out unless low on food and pick times to do it. I'm constantly shamed.im healthy, clean. Homes clean, I can't explain. Have spent last two yrs going to every type doctor to no avail. My family can't smell it either. Has anyone heard of this?

My brother’s entire body reeks of garlic is he eats it.
I know that my brother’s entire body reeks of garlic if he eats it.
I am no Dr, but it sounds like it might be the food you eat, which would kinda explain why your family doesn't notice. Garlic and alcohol are notorious culprits. They just seems to come out of our pores when inject them. Anyway, check your diet and your drinking. Otherwise, I'm stumped and have never heard of this.
Hi , I’m new here and have joined to find answers and support while offering the same back. I think I have Trimethylaminuria as well. It started at least 6 months ago.
While doing a lot of research I found limiting foods high in choline such as red meat, pork and sea fish helps in combating the odor. This is not a recommendation from me, its just what I personally tried and found helpful.
Theres lots of information online showing studies done on why this happens but few MDs actually know anything about it. Im trying to find a Dr who will test me for it, saw mine a few times and she knows nothing about it and suggested I seek out research clinics.
TMAU Is a condition caused by a faulty Enzyme called FMO3 in the gut, which is suppose to break down trimethylaminuria so it doesn’t cause body odor. Some are born with this issue while others have it later in life. Thats called secondary TMAU. You can google this and find more information.
Actually not eating Red meat, pork, beans, seafood, liver, full fat dairy, u can have low fat. Cheese made with animal rennet is out, use cheese made with plant based rennet. A good one is Tillamook uses all plant based rennet.
Taking 200 mg of chlorophyll helps eliminate the odor. Empty out your bowels everyday helps transport the odor out faster.
I have experimented with what works and this does. Check out the internet for a full list of food highest with choline . Thats whats not being broken down in your gut.
Hope to find a dr who can test me, having this has been difficult.
A good licensed naturopathic physician might do the job. This is their speciality I believe.
Hey, so going gluten free stops the odor?
Hello! I struggle with same exact problem as you. Would you be available to talk about it some more with me? I would really appreciate it. I have no one to talk to about my problem.
After covid I at first had a smell of something burning. My husband never smelled it but thought the house was on fire one night! After several months of that got an awful smell and can't really relate it to anything I've never smelled before! I especially notice it when I work out and sweat but husband thinks I'm crazy because he never smells it either. I had covid 2 years ago July and it finally seemed to go away a few months ago but just started to come back!!
