Lost Smell and Taste after COVID

Posted by seanc6437 @seanc6437, Sep 12, 2021

So I had Covid in the beginning of March. Had all the symptoms and lost my taste and smell. I had 0 sense of smell or taste for a couple weeks. Ever since then everything I eat and smell does not smell or taste how I remember. Often times the food will taste rotten or sour. Has this happened to anyone else cause this has been going on for 6 months now and I would like to know if this is a permanent effect or not?

Had Covid Dec 2021 with 9 day hospitalization for “nonCovid pneumonia”. As of mid-Sept 2022 still have significant issues with smell and taste. Also heat intolerance and sweating.

Hello All~
Thought I might get some info regarding the persistent lack of taste and smell I've been experiencing for months now. I was told that it's a common part of having covid..but I was never ill or tested positive. I've tried the 'smell tests' on aroma's..but to no avail. I could be blindfolded and not know the difference between hot chocolate or coffee...Now it's just 'texture' and visual' instincts that I rely on to know if something is spoiled or not. This isn't fun at all. Any suggestions? Thanks for reading....

If you are willing to try collodal silver, which helped me, nebulize, gargle, and drink it. Nebulize many tmes a day, and if improving, continue at least two weeks after recovery.
Helped me restore taste/smell from an undiagnosed SARS, the symptoms of which lasted a year.
You might also try another antiviral protocol:
500mg 2 tmes/day of Lysine, Olive leaf. Enhanced Monolaurin twice/day (Inspired Nutrition).
All the best with your recovery.

Yes unfortunately I feel your pain. I lost my taste and smell Christmas Eve 2021 and it when I finally started getting some of it back it’s never been the same. NOTHING tastes like I remember it. For instance chocolate tastes like it’s been burnt and mixed in with dog poo. Anything like milk, yogurt or ice cream tastes sour almost like it’s gone bad. Lettuce, omg lettuce I can’t even describe the taste it’s like nothing I can really explain it’s just so foul. These are just a few examples. Food isn’t enjoyable anymore. I just eat to survive now. No more chocolate cake. No more salads. Can’t even have ice cream without is tasting like it’s soured. I’ve been living with this bs for over a year now and I’d do anything to get back to before getting Covid. Everything around me smells bad even when I know it’s not supposed to smell like that. I put an air freshener in my car and everyone that got in were like “ooh it smells so good in here. Really fresh.” To me it smelled like literal hot garbage 🙁 I need help.

I lost both my sense of taste and smell in August with Covid. Neither have returned. I have had maybe 5 instances where I caught a ..hint. of something smell wise, and it gone like snapping your fingers. Taste wise, I never ate hot or spicy food before covid of any type. Now I do. I have vaguely felt like I tasted something hot,and some super sour things. It is very frustrating. I was seeing a few Dr's for other issues they were trying to diagnose before covid hit. Now I deal with this also, and bow Dr's want to blame it all on covid when I was sick before I even got covid

I can usually taste
ketchup, dill pickles tart dressings on a salad. Once in a while I get a few seconds taste of a bite of food, then it's gone. I know if sweet or salty. This has been 3yrs!
I can smell VicksVapoRub, so I take a whiff every few hrs trying to relearn& stimulate my senses.
Mayo therapist has me using steroid
( Budesonide) in Netipot sinus rinse twice day. No recovery so far 3months.

I have been smelling things daily for months. What Dr's told me to do,as a generic response. Told me something should trigger it back. It is more frustrating and depressing than I ever imagined. My dad has not had a sense of smell for years due to a motorcycle accident. I never thought much of it,but my gosh, it's awful.
I try to have a sense pf humor, and say it's saving me money on thos expensive shampoos and body washes, since I can't smell anymore 😫
