Reclast Infusions: Side-effects & Recovery time
I just had a reclast infusion last week and have had serious side effects. I had the worst flue like aching for 5 days then my lefty arm became full of inflammation in the wrist, elbow and shoulder which caused extreme pain and I lost the ability to straighten my elbow. Ultrasound showed huge amounts of fluid throughout the arm. The right arm is now starting to have the same symptoms. The pain is excruciating. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Neither the ER doctor nor the Dr. who prescribed the procedure knew what to do to ease the symptoms. Both arms from fingertips to shoulder are swollen and neither elbow will straighten. Anyone else have adverse reactions to the reclast infusion? If yes, how long did it last?

@candy209 you can try requesting a partial dose. Have you told your doc about your sensitivities? I am in the Northeast.
Hello
I’ll request a partial dose. He knows how I am and always has me start with a half dose of any med. it with this he isn’t. I think my numbers are so bad he is worried.
We travel quite a bit and have decided to travel for the right doc and medical facility. Travels to your area is on our books this year. My husband travels for his business.
Would love to see if I can get a consult with your doc. He sounds very educated on this and very cautious.
My email is onefrenchpoodle@gmail.com.
Totally understand if you prefer not to mention his name.
All the best to you,
Candy
@candy209 I can PM you. But why are you doing Reclast if your scores are bad? Have you already done a bone builder like Forteo or Tymlos, or Evenity?
Oh no. So sorry I will be starting evenity soon but they are saying reclast is next. Praying it goes well with evenity first. Put trying to prepare for next step.
I sent you a private message @candy209. I am almost done with Tymlos and concerned about follow up as well.
I was just reading about tymolos. I might have to try that instead if evenity. I believe tymolos dies t effect the jaw. I had a root canal last year and apparently have a fracture in my jaw from that.
Did you ever try Evenity?
I need to use my glasses when writing messages. So sorry for the typos;)
@candy209 I have been told Tymlos does not affect the jaw (necrosis) because it does not affect bone turnover. I have not tried Evenity. I had a hard choice between Tymlos and Evenity and may consider doing Evenity after Tymlos if my scores are still low after mt upcoming DEXA.
Windyshores. I'd be interested in your DEXA scores after taking Tymlos. It this something you'll share with the group? Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Do you need to follow up Tymlos with another med to lock in the gains?
Am on Evenity right now but trying to decide my follow up drug. I would like to use reclast but I have several questions for anyone who have had to get a tooth pulled. (Iknow do dental work before) but if something happened. Also has it made your teeth loose or breaking? Thanks
