Shingrix and AFIB

Posted by saganjames @saganjames, Feb 1, 2023

I am 78 years old and about 8 months ago I had heart valve repair and an ablation. The ablation has fixed my afib. I am thinking about getting a second shingles shot, shingrix. Does anyone know if getting the shingrix shot can cause Afib to come back or be initiated?

Hi @saganjames, Here is some information that I think may answer your concern with getting the Shingrix vaccine.

"Is Shingrix safe for heart patients?
Since the shingles vaccines can help your heart, the American Heart Association recommends adults over age 50 get it. Shingrix®, which was approved by the FDA in 2017, has been shown to be more than 90 percent effective at preventing shingles. Since this shot may also help your heart, getting it is a no-brainer!"

I still think it's a good idea to ask your doctor before getting the vaccine, if for nothing else than to ease your mind. Have you talked with your doctor about getting the Shingrix vaccine?

Hi Sagan James and my I welcome you to connect. I had my shringix shots both of them during a period after having a heart transplant. Now I did not suffer from AFIB but I can attest that i have not developed AFIB either since having both shots. I had mine in Oct 2018 and Mar 2019 so its been a while with no ill effects. My I ask how your doctors feel about it?

Only time Afib resulted from a vaccine was from the Moderna shot

I had the first booster shot on September 30th 2021 that next night Oct 1st I am watching TV and my heart starts racing like I never felt before. That following Tuesday Oct 5th I had my annual cardiologist appointment. Give me the usual EKG makes some comment and says he wants to retake it. Then tells me he sees A-Fib which I never had before. Tells me to wear a monitor for a few days. The monitor confirms that I had some episodes. I can’t be certain, but I am sure not a believer in coincidences. I had for some years PVC’s & PAC’s. However never A-Fib. Perhaps I was predisposed to get A-Fib. I am certain if the booster shot did not outright give it to me it certainly speeded up the process for me to have A-Fib. The 2 regular vaccine shots I had prior to the first booster no reactions of any kind. All my shots were Pfizer. Needless to say I will never take another shot again. I am very active person run, swim, hit the gym, box and some mixed martial arts. This A-Fib has very much ruined my existence and if i did contract it artificially from the shot it just makes it worse.

Sorry I left out that they were all the Covid Vaccine shots.

I am now 76. In December 2019 I had severe facial shingle that took more than 8 months to be eradicated completely ( the tingling nerve in my left year could be controlled with Gabapentin for six months).
So my PCP asked me to get shingle vaccine. I took only one had to take second but as it was very close to Covid vaccine I avoided it. I had my Afib recurrence both times I took Phizer COVID shit.
They said shingle vaccine will not interfere but who knows.
Shingle vaccine is needed you can take it after a gap of few months between the two ( coved and shingle).

Interesting, I've heard that, but my wife decided on the Moderna and so far no issues. I decided on the Novavax one and zero issues with that one. Just like any medication it seems to affect different people differently.

Prior to Moderna I’d have one episode per year of very short duration and would convert on my own . After Moderna, I required 3 chemical conversions , 4 electrical cardio conversions and two ablations. Changed from paroxysmal to persistent. Toward the end, I’ d be in Afib for three weeks or more. (With severe shortness of breath )

Since last ablation 7 months ago- no Afib—- oh —- I never got the boosters nor will I

All interesting replies thank you.
I do not have any trust in the CDC, NIH, WHO, and you can throw in the EPA.
Basically any government agency for that matter,
Its, and has always been about the money.
The way covid was handled was a complete debacle and i feel a disgrace and a total disservice to the public.
Remember when they wouldn’t even consider natural immunity?
You know why, cause natural immunity is FREE!
I wouldn’t trust these people to buy me a loaf of bread.
I always say follow the money.
