Mayo Clinic Study: Seeking Current and Former Family Caregivers

Posted by Nick Rethemeier @nrethemeier, Mar 9, 2023

I wanted to share with you all a new Mayo Clinic study that is open for recruitment. Connect2Caregivers is being done to develop a unique matching process for connecting current and former caregivers with one another for the purpose of peer-to-peer emotional support.

The study will help researchers determine whether caregivers of persons with dementia would find a technology-based caregiver matching program valuable. if you are interested in learning more, you can contact the study coordinator at connect2caregivers@mayo.edu or visit the attached flyer.

I was an oncology caregiver RN professionally and personally for my father-n-law; a caregiver for my Mother thru 10 years with Alzheimer’s; my mother-n-law lived with me for 15 years after my father-n-law passed away. As the oldest of five, to a single mother, I was a born caregiver. Lived 2 doors from my grandparents and grew up caregiving to them. Started my nursing career st 15yo working in a nursing home with the privilege of caring for our elderly, many with dementia.
Oddly, at 64 yo, I’m now facing a debilitating illness dry Beriberi with severe SFN. I’m using my lifetime of learning to now care for myself for as long as able, but for-see in the near future I will need a caregiver. Love to learn how to find one that would fit my needs. I have so much to offer, share, and remain open to learning from others. Thank you for more information about this much needed support group!
