Post COVID hair loss: Will it grow back?
My husband had severe COVID in late Oct/early November, and now his hair is falling out rapidly. Has anyone else experienced this, and did it grow back?
Thanks,
Nicole

2 years out from original COVID. My hair fell out at about 6 weeks, and yes mine did grow back. I now use a collagen powder in my coffee each morning.
I’m sorry you went through that and I can imagine how terrified you were I’m glad it grew back.
I had some hair loss initially but it seemed to stop. I am now 10 months after Covid and my hair is again falling out.
I thot it was my thyroid. Sigh.
My hair breaks off so easily. It terrible.
I'm now 11 months post-covid and still losing lots of hair. My hair has thinned so much. Still, I'd give up my hair if I could return to a normal life. No energy, GI problems, shortness of breath, coughing, brain fog. All I do is sit quietly at home or go to doctor's appointments. Not the retirement I was looking for.
I am so sorry to learn you are also experiencing many of the same symptoms I am. I would encourage you to take little steps to take back some control and try to increase your enjoyment of life. I put on some of my favorite music and try to sing along. I have also started an exercise program, very basic movements and as slow as I need to go. Try to set small goals and make a list. It gives me satisfaction to be able to then check off the goals I have met no matter how small! I have also found if I do something for someone else it gives me a sense of purpose. My current action is to write encouraging notes to Veterans and send them to our VA hospital to be given out. I am just trying to give you hope and encouragement! Best wishes ahead!
I'm 9 months post-covid, and I'm also continuing to experience hair loss. I've had a bald spot on the back of my head for decades (I'm 73), but covid seems to have decided that I need to also lose the hair on the top of my head. Agree about your proposed trade off. I'd gladly go bald if it would relieve my brain fog, shaking hands, lack of energy/stamina and GI problems. This is also not the retirement I was planning on. Good luck!
I have had long Covid since the end of 2021, so 15 months. In March of ‘22, I started noticing hair all over the rug in my bedroom. I thought the dog was pulling it out of the bathroom garbage can but quickly realized it was coming from my head. It came out in clumps. I’ve been taking Biotin since then. My nails have never been so good 🤣 but not my hair. I have big bald spots on top. I’ve taken to wearing slouchy beanies. They have pages of them on Amazon. They’re cute for now. My MD is starting me on thyroid medication for low levels & she said it might help with the alopecia as well.
I noticed less hair all over after covid19. After I reached my 50's
I have never had a full head of hair but these last few years I had covid twice so I lost more hair. I'm taking a multivitamin and other stuff so hopefully I stop losing more hair.
