40 year old son just got ALS diagnosis. What's next? Trying to find him the best neurologist using cutting edge treatment ASAP. His determination is already noticeable.

Hello @erichersh and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I wanted to help connect you to other members who are also caregivers going through ALS with a family member so you will notice I have moved your post here:
- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Lou Gehrig’s disease: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/als-2/

Members like @722jo @allegro @julesa @bethclardy22 @laurahquayle11 along with @hopeful33250 may be able to come back in and share about their neurologist.

While we wait for others to come in, I'd thought I'd share more about ALS care at Mayo Clinic if interested:
- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) - Care at Mayo Clinic: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/amyotrophic-lateral-sclerosis/care-at-mayo-clinic/mac-20354030

Are you set on finding care in a certain part of the country or open to travel anywhere?

We are totally open to travel anywhere for his treatment and evaluation. We have an appointment at John's Hopkins in a few weeks, and would also consider Mayo Clinic. My son has an 8 year old son and was recently remarried. Our whole family is devastated and could use all the help we can get.😓

What herbal treatment are you referring to. I would love to hear about it. My Dad passed with ALS many years ago and now there is a possibility one of my nieces may have ALS. I would appreciate this very much.

My Dad passed many years ago with ALS and he was 56 years old. To young so I feel for you and your son. I pray you find some help on this page and from so many people that are fighting this. I have never understood the bottom line or underlying cause of this. One of my nieces may have ALS. she is still getting tested now at 67. Prayers for you.

@quimbie, the member posting about herbal cures for ALS is a spammer. I'm afraid this is one of those situations that if it sounds too good to be true, it isn't true. The account has been removed. Please be aware of any claims about herbal cures. This company targets people and caregivers dealing with ALS and Parkinson's in particular.

My grandma who has been Lou Gehrig’s disease for 2 years at the age of 75 had all her symptoms reversed with a Ayurveda medicine from health natural centre . org after undergoing their ALS natural treatment plan. God Bless all ALS Caregivers. Stay Strong, take small moments throughout the day to thank yourself, to love your self, and pray to whatever faith, star, spiritual force you believe in and ask for strength. I can personally vouch for these remedy but you would probably need to decide what works best for you.
