Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?
Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

wow @leslie2121. That is very encouraging! Happy for you!
My side effects started with immediate face flushing and tingling around my mouth, cheekbones and the corner of my eyes. These lasted for about 10 days. The second and third doses, I had the same reaction but they lasted less time. I just did not like the way it made me feel and the fact that this drug had not been out that long really bothered me. My endocrinologist took the initiative and contacted the manufacturer and they agreed that this may not be a good match for me. The Reclast has been around a while, plus it frees you up to live your life with only once a year. I guess I won’t know the impact until this fall when we do a new bone scan.
What side effects ?
I have had 1 injection and only side effect was a large bruise . That’s it. I was also told you can’t start this med and stop it . You need to continue a year . Or your bone density rapidly decline . For me it’s what I need .
Thank you so much for your reply re Evenity side effects. That does not sound good, and I can understand why you would want to stop. I will watch for this reaction. I did get a rash on each forearm in the same place about two weeks after shot. A little weird, but it only itched initially. I stopped using a loofah shower puff and applied moisturizer and it went away so it might have been dermatitis. I'm as low as -5.2 so I need to build bone at this point, so I hope I can continue. Hope your fall bone scan is good news for you and thanks again.
I also want to know why people continue to get Dexa Scan ? After your on a bone building treatment . It’s quite obvious it should increase your bone density and build more bones . They cost a lot of money and there isn’t any change you
Can make if your already being treated. Just my opinion
This is such great news!!. I am also on Evenity, just finished my 7th month of shots. Once I complete the 12 months, my doc will give me Reclast. I hope to have the same improvement you have. That's a huge improvement!!
Well, my insurance pays for yearly scans- it helps me decide if the treatment is helping in light of side effects. There are several different types of medications to choose from so won’t do scans just for the heck of it.
Thank you, I hope Evenity works well for you. My doctor has been on top of my results, which I am encouraged by.
Lots of pain at the injection sites and minor swelling across my entire abdomen. Ugh! Barely slept. Horrible! I took Tylenol, iced the injection sites and massaged the areas which offered me some relief. I never have headaches and had a throbbing headache for three days. My shoulders ached on both sides for about a week. I also experienced heart palpitations for several days. It’s been over a month and I am finally feeling like myself again. I am obviously not a good candidate for Evenity.
