Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Posted by arlene7 @arlene7, May 27, 2020

Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

I have taken Evenity; I had only 3 of the 12 doses because I had some side effects that had not been listed yet. My doctor took the initiative and called the manufacturer and was advised that maybe I wasn’t a good candidate. I have transitioned to Reclast. Check your insurance with Evenity can be pricey if you don’t have good coverage. The side effects I had were just recently reported; I chose not to be an experimental subject.

Smart woman! I only had one set of Evenity injections in January with horrendous side effects and chose not to receive another set. I, too, do not wish to be an experimental subject. Evenity is not ready for the market yet in my humble opinion. Hope that Reclast is working for you. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Hi,
I was wondering how you did on Evenity? I am supposed to take it but am so worried about possible side effects. Did you get through all 12 months? How was your T-score afterwards? I hope all went well.

Can you tell me how long you were off of Evenity from the time you stopped to the time you started back up again?

I've had two injections, then stopped for dental extraction. This is all very new so there doesn't seem to be any clear direction. Very hard to get recommendations from doctor and Evenity. However dental surgeon researched and suggests extraction + two weeks checkup + second two weeks checkup + 1 month = 2 months before restarting injections. I'll report back as things develop.

@ladydiscdy and sedrake51 why transition from Evenity to Reclast? Why not Tymlos or Forteo?

I’m curious what those were- do you mind sharing those?
I managed to get 8 months before stopping and then did a Reclast infusion.
I got an itchy scalp rash, fatigue and worst of all, brain fog.
It stopped once I stopped Evenity.

When I had my first Evenity treatment, I immediately had face and neck flushing, tingling around my mouth that lasted for several days. The second dose, I had the same thing but it lasted less time, dosage number 3 about the same. I just wasn’t comfortable with how it was making me feel. I think we made the right decision transitioning to Reclast. It’s been around longer so there is more data regarding it.
