Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Posted by arlene7 @arlene7, May 27, 2020

Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

Thanks. We hope to get back on Evenity within a couple of months but might be on a timeline similar to yours. We’ll learn more this week from the Endodontist and the Rheumatologist.

@ladydiscdy and sedrake51 why transition from Evenity to Reclast? Why not Tymlos or Forteo?

I went with my Doctor’s recommendation, she has my health history and took that into consideration. Some of the other medications were not optimal choices.

Hi Lynester:
I started taking Evinity 9 months ago so have had 18 shots (2 each month). I have had NO SIDE EFFECTS at all. I fortunately had some fillings filled BEFORE I started the treatment. I also made sure I had no heart problems and took several tests just to make sure. The only thing I have once in a while is a black and blue mark on my arm but I now have the nurse tape ice on my arm and no black and blue mark! I think I have a similar score for my neck as you. I have osteoporosis and scoliosis. I hope after I have my new bone scan it will show huge improvement. I will display my old amd new scores for this site after the bone scan. Once again, thankfully no side effects. Also I took Beniva for 4 years and it did NOTHING to improve my bone density. The best of luck let me know if you would like to talk. We have to help each other!

Just wondering what your results were after a year of being on EVENITY and have you continued with anything else? I’m considering EVENITY as my spine is -4.4 but very nervous about possible side effects Thank you

I’m anxious to know what your doctors tell you about resuming Evenity.

Hi,
I was wondering how you did on Evenity? I am supposed to take it but am so worried about possible side effects. Did you get through all 12 months? How was your T-score afterwards? I hope all went well.

I stopped after 8 months then did Reclast 3 months ago. My repeat dexascan shows 40% improvement in my lumbar spine. Going from T score of 4.0 to 2.7 for total lumbar spine.
Hips improved almost as much but they are still barely osteopenia.
So very encouraging!!

I have taken Evenity; I had only 3 of the 12 doses because I had some side effects that had not been listed yet. My doctor took the initiative and called the manufacturer and was advised that maybe I wasn’t a good candidate. I have transitioned to Reclast. Check your insurance with Evenity can be pricey if you don’t have good coverage. The side effects I had were just recently reported; I chose not to be an experimental subject.

Hello ladydiacdy. I have only had one dose, the 2nd coming this week. Can you please tell us the side effects you experienced? I'm hoping that I will have the same easy time with subsequent shots but have thought about the possibility that additional shots could be difficult. I'm sorry you had to stop and hope Reclast will be the right med for you.

What were your symptoms?

I was told when I was taking it that I "was" a guinea pig. That really bothered me. I stopped the injections after taking several of them. My back pain became worse during the injections so I opted to stop them. I'm slowly feeling better. I went back to Prolia every 6 months. Evenity is so new that I don't think the bugs are all out of it.
