Before I was diagnosed with Fibro, I would tell people that I had a "sitting issue" because I could only sit for very short periods and even had to stand in an airplane due to this. Finally, when I found out I had fibro, the doctor explained that the sitting issues are from what you are talking about. I have found that sitting on a heating pad relieves the glute and leg pain when it gets really bad.

My PT guy suggested to use a wrapped ice cube on the knot to relax it - once relaxed use heat to address the irritation the knot had caused.

Worth a try.

There is specific medication for fibromyalgia. The pain comes from nerve endings and the lumps under the skin in the muscle are common especially in severe cases. Talk to a physician --preferably a rheumatologist who specializes in FM.
