Anyone else been diagnosed with a borderline ovarian tumor?

Posted by EW @ew62, Sep 3, 2022

Two years ago, I underwent a hysterectomy to remove an 11cm tumor on my left ovary, and all the markers pointed to cancer. After my surgery, results showed I had a borderline tumor. Thus I did not need chemo or radiation. I go in every six months for blood work and scans for further tumor development. I am tumor free thus far. Has anyone else been diagnosed with a borderline tumor? I am curious as there is not a lot of information about them.

Thank you!!

Hey everyone,
My appointment went well..
All of my questions were answered and my oncologist was amazing!!
During my first surgery there was spillage.
I will be going back in for another surgery to have biopsies done and he will remove my fallopian tube because for some reason the obgyn left the fallopian tube.

I have a tumor on left ovary not sure what kind yet. It's a complex solid cystic tumor measuring 4.4 cm which grew from 3.8 cm in 2 months. Went to OBGYN yesterday having surgery on the 28. He said it doesn't look good that he's afraid it's cancer. Doing a partial hysterectomy with the possibility of a full hysterectomy with radiation & chemotherapy if cancer spread. I have came across your type of tumor while researching. Are you going to have it removed?

Hey there,
I hope that your surgery goes smoothly and sorry for the bad diagnosis. Maybe your pathology report will come back good.. how are you feeling?

I had my first surgery in January.
I saw my oncologist on Friday, I will be going in for a second surgery to remove my fallopian tube and have biopsy’s done in my abdomen. I’m so afraid something bad will show up on the biopsy’s. I have been having unexplained nausea for years, and pain behind my belly button with lower back pain. I hope he finds what is causing it …

I hope that you have a really good outcome. It definitely is scary not knowing what could be...I'm not doing ok at the moment. 😭 My periods are so unpredictable. Never on time and I haven't had one since Jan 5 but for the last 4 days I have been spotting very dark brown blood then today I finally started but let me tell u, this is the most painful period I have ever experienced in my life. It has me literally in tears. Not sure if it's from the tumor or the severe endometriosis they say I have but I have never in my life experienced pain like this with a period. My lower back hurts so severely along with my left hip and pain in my lower abdomen that's so intense to the point it brings me to my knees crying. It just feels so unbearable & I can't take this. I have a low tolerance for pain and this pain is something I would never wish upon anyone. I don't even know what to take that will ease this pain. I can't even walk straight due to being doubled over in pain. Does endometriosis do this like this? And what do the Drs do for it

So sorry about your period pains….
My periods with the tumor were hell and unfortunately I just finished my first period without a tumor and it was hell.
The only thing that helped was taking two 500mg Tylenol the extra strength.
get your heating pad out and put it on your whole area. If you have a heated blanket then put that on top of you as well and try your best to sleep. When you’ve had enough of that take a hot bath.
I found that these two things to be the only thing that helps.

I hope this helps you and that you can get some relief soon ❤️❤️

My oncologist did say that the tumor could of been causing the painful periods and after surgery my periods will be messed up for several months.
I know it’s not the news we want to hear but at least can kind of prepare for it, in advance. If possible!

I was under my heated blanket earlier and had it pressed to my stomach I need to get my heating pad out. Thank God they have eased up at the moment. What kind of tumor did you have?

Good glad you got some relief.
I had a serous borderline tumor. Guess I shouldn’t say had, my oncologist wants to check and make sure there isn’t more .
I hope this second surgery that is coming up will be my last surgery for a long long time.

Do you have nausea as a symptom?
I have been having nausea for several years, and I just want to find the cause.
I’ll get a pain behind my belly button and then it hurts in my lower back

No nausea I have really bad hip pain on the side the tumor is on but not sure if it's from that. I had an MRI done to see what's causing my hip pain and that's when the tumor was found. I would hate to be nauseous for years. That has to be awful. Hopefully this will be your last surgery. Ive had 3 because of c sections and now this will be my forth beaches cutting me along the scars I already have 😪 I am scared because I don't know what I'm going to wake up to. I have googled so much to see what complex solid cystic even is like what kind of tumor it has lead me to ovarian cancer and all kinds of stuff . 😪

When they found my tumor it was because I was in the ER throwing up and diarrhea. It was found on accident during a scan.

I believe my imaging showed up as a complex, solid cyst as well.
It also said it was possible blood was not flowing to my ovary.
It was painful.
Hang in there!!
I know it is scary , knowing that is there. But take it easy if possible, until your surgery 🙂

Thankfully my nausea comes and goes. It mostly starts up at night, but lately it has been happening more often during the day.
