@lacy2 I have used vitamin drops from India I found that when I used them I didn't have to use as many times before I put drops in about 4-5 times a day but with using drops and Dr put me on AREDSfor my M.D. I use maybe I 1-2 times a day here it also depends on the weather
Be careful with drops from India. I know some have been recalled due to contaminated with fungus. Many people have gotten sick from them...and one has died.
I have had dry eyes for 20 plus years. I am on Systain eye drops twice a day. I have read that running a humidifier helps? I am currently using one now? Anyone else using a humidifier?
I really can't afford plugs.
I have had dry eyes for many years. I started with commercial types, made in USA or Canada. Now I use ones that are made in Germany and can be purchased at any pharmacy in Canada, Germany & Switzerland. HYLO GEL. These drops can also be purchased online. All the best, Marianne

We run 2-3 humidifiers because the air is so dry. Its to help some ailments. It didn’t occur to me that it could help dry eye. I’ve had dry eye for over 23 years. I’ve had punctual plugs (a help), restasis (could not tell if they helped), individual use eye drops, lubrication at night at times (helped, helped). When I use moisturizing eye drops it helps improve vision. I hope you feel better. If you are using a computer, when looking at the screen, try to blink more often. Believe it or not, it makes a difference. Hope you feel better.
I have had plugs put in my lower eyes many years ago and I may have to have it done in my upper eye lids. I also use refresh drops and ointment at night. I think I have spent over $50,000 over the years for drops.

OMEGA FISH OIL Supplements- weird, but helping me!
I have an autoimmune disease, with dry eyes, but not nearly as bad as described by some of the posts here.
An optician recommended drops, humidifier, compresses-- all the usual-- AND fish oil supplements, which surprised me. I didn't really comply with the fish oil.
Then, my cardiologist told me to take fish oil, too. So I started taking them. Since the time I started being really compliant with the fish oil supplements, the dry eyes have improved! Noticeably! It took a couple of months to see the results in my eyes, but now I can tell if I've skipped the supplement (which I do sometimes, unfortunately. I take a lot of pills and sometimes I just can't take another one...You probably know the feeling.)

I used to take prescription fish oil until I choked on the pill. Since then I grind up short acting meds and discontinued the fish oil. I want to take the supplement. Mine was quite large. Great tip.
A rheumy dx’d me with sjogrens. Current rheumy doesn’t know what to think. Didn’t give her past history. Don’t know why I didn’t.
I’m a dry-eye person too. Years of contact lenses with no trouble. Several years ago, I noticed I was putting in lubricant drops hourly.
My optician recommended the Fish Oil supplements too.
They worked great if you can deal with the after-taste. Yuck!
Buy the smallest and most potent to help. It’s worth it.
Years later…
I got off of the fish oil tabs and once again dealt with the hourly drops.
I had the plugs inserted and they worked except they kept popping out.
Lastly, my Ophthalmologist recommended a lid revision.
She took my lower lids and revised them to lessen the surface area of my eye, therefore, less dryness.
Think …free eye lift. She had to take photos and measurements to submit to my insurance for approval.
It worked out wonderfully and I no longer use drops and that was 10 years ago.
Don't forget to use good eye hygiene by using warm compresses twice a day.

My eye consultant also prescribed Ilube for my dry eyes along with HyCon Extra which I can get that on Amazon.
I have dry eyes and I run a humidifier and find it helps. Can Tire carry them and. Not too expensive for a small one

Good luck, everybody!
