Does COVID brain fog go away on its own?

Posted by auntb65 @auntb65, Dec 16, 2022

Just curious if anyone has had their brain fog/dizziness go away on its own. I was hospitalized in November 2021 for a week. Thankfully all my other symptoms have gone away except the brain fog/dizziness. I really hate to think I’m stuck with this. I’ve tried everything I can think of-PT, visits to ENT/neurologist. I read this blog daily and have tried many of the suggestions you all give. (Thank you by the way). Im so tired of hearing “Your test results are normal”.
At the same time, I’m so thankful my other symptoms have cleared up. Hoping you all get relief soon!!

I am 5 months from having had COVID. I had 2 shots & 2 Boosters- both Moderna. I am experiencing serious brain fog. It was bad for months & then seemed to have gone away & now it’s back- full on.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Brain fog is real. Have noticed any triggers like stress, lack of sleep, exertion that bring it on or make thinking straight harder?

I had brain fog for about 2 years (covid 10/2020). It has been alleviated. I went through Mayo PCCC. Found it very helpful.

Any chance you can elaborate on what you believe alleviated your brain fog - many who are on here can't get to or can't get into a Mayo PCCC ... many thanks and hope it continues!

For me the brain fog is linked to an increase in fatigue either from post-exertional malaise or not getting enough sleep (ie at least 8+ hours a night) or both.

I would love to be able to go to Mayo. Unfortunately I am not close. I am close to Northwestern in Chicago. I had an appointment there last week with one of their neurologists. I’ve seen many doctors in my area that could not do anything so I made the trip to Chicago. I feel they tried to do more for me than any doctor close to me. Although I didn’t get the answer I was looking for, I did get some closure. I was told there is nothing they can do for me and that I still need to give it more time.
If there is anyone close to Northwestern, I would highly recommend them.

My symptoms include(d) brain fog, dizzy, fatigue (physical and cognitive), bad tremor. I have improved enough to return to work PT. I was off and did almost nothing for 12 weeks. I have done the following for treatment: take supplements including vitamin D3, B12, and NAC, mitochondria formula, multi mineral. in addition, I do vestibular rehab with a physical therapy component for dizziness and increasing stamina. I just started occupational rehab to improve cognitive function. I try to eat healthy and take a walk outdoors every day. I try to pace my activity and not overwhelm my schedule because symptoms increase at those times. My providers include primary care, naturopathic physician, neurology, therapists at OT/PT, and I am waiting for participation at Long Covid clinic. I hope this helps newcomers to the group or anyone who has not Found any relief. It is my expectation from literature and talking with others this may require 12 or more months for a full recovery.

What do you think lead to your tremor going away?

REPLY

My tremor has improved but not gone. I notice it more when I’m stressed or fatigued. I don’t know whether it is improved because of the supplements (I was low Vit D and B12 in labs), resting a lot, pacing, or building endurance at physical therapy. Likely a combo of all of it. My nervous system was wrecked. Good luck to you.
