How did you manage the pain side effects of Prolia?
I had prolia injection a week ago. I've developed lower back pain and severe spasms. The spasms are so bad I can hardly get out of bed or even out of a chair. Is there anything I can do or take to alleviate this awful pain.

Good morning, Mentor,
Thank you for the Amgen phone number. I contacted Amgen a couple of weeks ago and spoke to a nurse who was interested in getting details of my experience with Evenity. Fortunately, I kept a detailed record of side effects. She was also interested in pre and post bloodwork. I happened to have the reports and read her any elevations/ lows in both reports. She also asked for injection lot numbers and the doctor's contact information. My point is to be organized when you call. I don't know what happens to the data, but this is the only way to give pharmaceutical companies insight into real life problems with their products.

1 ReactionBecause you misinterpreted my statement, I apparently didn’t state it well enough. I wasn’t saying that Prolia builds bone but it repairs the process of bone regeneration so that we don’t lose more bone.
“Without
treatment
An excess of bone-removing cells in your body makes you lose bone faster than your body can rebuild it, putting you at risk for fracture.
With
Prolia®
Prolia® is an injection that works with your body to help stop the development of bone-removing cells.”

That is exactly how it works.
May you have happiness and the causes of happiness.

2 ReactionsTylenol Extra Strength, but no more than 3,000 mg a day or you risk liver damage. I take 2500 mg a day and it helps quite a bit. The back pain will get better after about 4 months.

One of the bad things about all these drugs is that if you stop taking them the bone deterioration speeds up .

Both drugs give you back pain, but I think that Evenity gave me more joint pain than Prolia. You also have Evenity injections every month for a year (2 injections each time) - I think this is way too strong for most people.

1 ReactionI think that a drug that works with your body is better than one that adds extra bone. I always worry about accelerated bone growth and cancer. So many women contract this.
I had a small percentage of bone growth with Prolia and that doctor put me on Evenity that grows bone anyway. I don't see that point in doing that if you are making new bone, although, slowly.

1 ReactionMy Doctor wants to put me on
Reclast I do not want to go on it. The side effects seem bad, it’s a one year
1/2 hour infusion.
Doe any one have any experience with it?
Can anyone recommend a safe medication. For osteoporosis
Thanks
I only get 1 Prolia shot every 6 months.

I took my first and only prolia shot the very end of April. By mid May my hamstring felt like a severe Charlie horse and thigh bone pain really bad when standing or walking any significant amount of time. Ice was only relief. Prior I was walking 3 miles per day. It is now Oct and while the muscle has gotten better I still have
thigh bone pain and can’t walk or stand for length of time. I have spoken to my rheumatologist, orthopedic and neurosurgeon and all deny prolia caused this. Really makes me mad. I just want some relief so I can get back to doing what I could do before the shot. I also had dermatitis with scaly boil on my neck and now rash under my breast. I just read prolia can cause that as well. Any one else had this?
