How did you manage the pain side effects of Prolia?

Posted by pine4234 @pine4234, Oct 26, 2018

I had prolia injection a week ago. I've developed lower back pain and severe spasms. The spasms are so bad I can hardly get out of bed or even out of a chair. Is there anything I can do or take to alleviate this awful pain.

I am happy to read a positive comment about Reclast. I am scheduled to get my first infusion on 2/7 & I am very nervous.

Hi , am doubtful that the Prolia is causing you the pain, have been onProlia for several years,no resultant pain. Are you keeping as active as possible?

It’s good to hear that you haven’t had any side effects. Everything I seem to hear & read is negative. Thank you for responding!

I had my first Prolia injection last July and have to have the second one very soon. Pain and spasms were very real. Yet I feel I need to give it a chance to see if it will help build my bones. I’m dreading it again.

I had pain in my thigh that lasted for a year after taking prolia. My dr had me stop the Prolia because the pain was so severe.

Yes, I also had pain in my thigh. It wasn’t severe. But aches and shooting pains in my joints and legs and jaw and bones. I couldn’t count on feeling ok until I got up every day. Some days were fine. Other days were very frustrating. Only thing that helped a little bit was Tylenol.

Good evening @kjane322 and @emwilliams, thanks for your response @kjane322. As I read that you are looking at Prolia to help build your bones, I want to make sure you know that Prolia does not build bone.......it protects it after another medication has built it. The only three medications that build bone are Forteo, Tymlos, and Evenity. Please consult with a bone health specialist/clinician to make sure you are taking the right medication.

This is a lot of medication information and it can be very confusing. I personally got involved in a mess until I saw an endocrinologist at Mayo Clinic. Whew.....saved again. I sure wish it was easier. Let me know if you have other issues. You may need another opinion or consultatation.

May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering.

Oh. I guess I didn’t understand that Prolia doesn’t build bone. Yet if it keeps my bones from getting worse then I should appreciate that. My endocrinologist is the person that suggested Prolia. It did surprise me since I have been on prednisone for 48 years because of adrenal insufficiency. I’m on 2 mg daily so she said it was such a small amount it would not make any difference. I’m not one who sits to much for my age so I feel that helps my bones to keep going. Anything that helps as we age is worth trying. I think?

I have been on Prolia for two sessions and haven’t noticed any side affects.
I wonder if I could get off or need to be checked ?Its time for my next shot ?
