Macula hole, macula pucker
Hi Everyone,
I am new to the community and I am hoping someone out there has some insight to share with me. I was just diagnosed with macula hole in my right eye and macula pucker in my left. I am scared out of my mind. Has anyone experienced either of these two syndromes and what advice to you have for me?
Thank you and all take good care, Ninajeanne

Hi Saunaev, Mayo Clinic eye experts provide comprehensive care for people who seek answers about conditions and diseases of their eyes. Each year doctors in the Mayo Clinic Department of Ophthalmology help nearly 80,000 people who need healing.
I encourage you to call the appointment office to ask about getting a second opinion at Mayo. Here's more information on how: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63
Here is a video of Dr.. Iezzi from Mayo Clinic talking about macula hole repair. https://medprofvideos.mayoclinic.org/videos/macular-hole-repair
I had macular pucker in both eyes, four years apart. I had surgery on each eye with a wonderful surgeon in Pensacola, FL. , Dr. S. Gupta. I recovered easily. I do not have perfect vision, but is better than having detachment.
After eye scan my doctor has told me I have a partial thickness "hole" in the macula. I had cataract surgery in this eye five years ago and just recently noticed vision changes. Doctor said there is no treatment, but to continue monitoring my vision. I would appreciate information from others that might have this same condition and what their experience has been with it.
Hello @cherriann. You will see that I have moved your post into an existing discussion which you can find here:

Had you heard about this repair being available?
I had Macular Hole surgery last summer.
Yes, at least 7 days with head down.
I rented a massage table and massage chair online. Helped a lot.
I could watch shows on my IPad while sitting in the Massage chair.
My Right eye vision lost 2 lines on the Eye Chart. And the vision is “ squiggly” or slightly distorted. My left eye is 20/20 so I am ok.
If I can offer you any more info, let me know.
I have had 2 branch occlusions but went in for cataract surgery. Could the surgery have caused a macula pucker? I have noticed my vision is worse and loss of color. Marcia
Thank you to those who responded to my post, but I want to make a clarifcation, I "do not" have a macular hole. The condition I was diagnosed with at Mayo Clinic is called a "partial thickness hole in the macula" and doctor said there is no treatment for it. I was interested in hearing from anyone else who might also of been diagnosed with a "partial thickness hole in the macula".
I have a macular hole in my left eye and have inquired with Mayo clinic on Dr Iezzi's unique face up recovery procedure. That video was created in 2014 and I can't seem to be able to find any updated information. In addition, the Jacksonville Mayo office only offers the face down recovery procedure.
So I'm curious to know why his unique surgery with his certainly far less intrusive recovery approach not been adopted by the rest of the industry and even within Mayo's network of clinics? Any idea where I might find more information about this?
