Continued Post-Nasal Drip and Constant Mucus in Throat
I was sick the last week or January/first week of February. Home Test-negative, rapid PCR-negative. All COVID symptoms and known prolonged exposure to infected individuals make me believe it was COVID. Since then, I have had a tremendously hard time dealing with post-nasal drip and mucus collecting in my throat. It is clear, sticky and almost impossible to remove from throat by coughing or clearing my throat. Flonase does nothing, allergy pills do nothing. Had anyone else had an issue like this post COVID? How long did it last? What did you do to cope? Small problem in comparison to others that post here, I realize.

Try Benadryl.
I have, it doesn't work for me for nasal congestion. But at works fine apply topically to little insect or bug bites.
Take it from a girl from Pennsylvania black elderberry will wipe out just about any type of virus infection as far as cold flu that sort of thing and it works very well even for like tonsillitis it's the level of vitamin c and one other property I can't think of right off hand but yeah when we were sick it was everybody line up and you got a mouthful on a spoon and by the next day you were starting to feel better and you were going to school
I just remembered that salty foods increase the mucus and the covid creates a yearning for salty foods since it takes other tastes away. Try to stay clear of salt additives in anything processed.
Thanks so much for your response. I will try your coughing / honking method! 😉 I’ll do anything at this point. It’s 3 :45 AM in Atlanta and I’m up struggling through a bad night with post Covid symptoms. I hope you are feeling as well as possible. Thanks again! It helps to know others are experiencing the same thing. I hate saying that because I would never wish these problems on anyone.
@poppy67
I can empathize with you, Poppy. I'm having quite a morning myself today. Some days are better (or worse 😠) than others, aren't they? I'm happy to hear you have such determination. That positive attitude you have helps too, even though things sometimes appear to be so bleak, especially in the wee hours of the morning when you feel that the whole country is fast asleep.....except for you!!. Keep the faith, Poppy. Surely, this can't last forever. Warmest regards,
Laurie ❤
I had covid early December and haven't felt "normal" since. I'm not coughing but have the post nasal drip that is constant. It really is starting to drag me down a bit too. Trying to stay positive but not always easy
I think sometimes we just have to give in and have a good cry. Afterwards I usually feel better. Last night I had a panic attack which I rarely have. They only started after Covid. I was feeling quite depressed and then the anxiety came. I feel better today and feel more in control of my emotions. I just know deep within these symptoms will let up and we will feel better. I try to grab hold of the positive , be around positive people, read uplifting material,etc.. we will get through this.
Did you also experience heartburn or is it silent reflux instead if GERD? Would love to hear 🙂
I tested positive for Covid late last month after a weekend trip where I, like a dummy, fell off of wearing N95s indoors. I came back home with Covid. I'm just glad that, at least, during travel, I was masked in public areas like the airport and on the plane.
I have type 1 diabetes, so my primary care team put me on Paxlovid. But that week was a ton of coughing and I was coughing up phlegm and mucus persistently for days. My consistent gripe was how gross it was as I even had phlegm projectiles at one point. (It was just a couple of times but ewwwww, no.) I'm now Covid negative. I'm still coughing and occasionally coughing up phlegm, especially in the morning after I sleep. In terms of progress though it's definitely less coughing, so that's good.
I did buy Dayquil and Nyquil and graduated to Mucinex afterwards to just give my lungs an assist. After a couple of days I stopped the cold medicine.
Based on what I've read, you don't enter Long Covid territory after 4-8 weeks as post-Covid cough is a thing. For now, I'm going to let my primary care doc know, keep resting, and drink tons of fluids. Easy for me as I love hot teas.
I'm going to also start weaving low-impact aerobic exercise back in. I KNOW that will get my lungs working, and I'll definitely cough stuff up. However, I'll also be getting back into shape.
