Gonorrhea but not even sexually active…
I just got diagnosed by my gynecologist with gonorrhea and I’m literally so confused right now.. I’m currently engaged but me and my fiancé have been saving ourselves for the past 2 year.. We don’t have any sexual contact at all not even making out. The last time we had sex was in September of 2020 and after that we were both tested and clean. I got a Pap smear in March of 2022 and it was also normal. I literally don’t know how this is happening and it’s freaking me out. Now that I’ve gotten the results though it makes sense to a lot of my issues I’ve been having with my abdomen. I’ve been faithful and haven’t done things like sharing sex toys or anything along that route. I don’t know how else I could have contracted it but it’s literally making me feel crazy.

Hi @kennedyakelly, it’s really difficult and confusing when these things happen. I have 10 adult nieces I’m a few years older than and so they’re comfortable asking me these questions.
What I would say to them is to first talk to your partner and explain it just the way you did here…but calmly without the tears. You are partners in celibacy and soon life so you have to be able to problem solve together. Second, make a follow-up/sick visit with your gy or a counselor and if you explain the issues as you did here, they will give you tools to figure out how this may have happened.
Good luck and I really hope you feel better. It doesn’t seem like it now but every experience is a learning opportunity and some hurt. It helps to befriend women a little older than whatever age group you’re in because we as women give better personal experience advice when it’s in private.
I actually went and got retested yesterday and turns out it was just a false positive! Thank goodness
That’s fantastic!!
