@gardeningjunkie do you have a good recipe for the cilantro smoothie? I would like to try this smoothie route. Thanks!
Thanks for your comments and am glad the Witch Hazel has been helpful! I have not experienced a cure--- but do find adequate relief.
I have accepted that there is no good way to improve the taste of cilantro. Yes I enjoy it in salsa and other foods, but not in a smoothie.
Initially I added 1/2 bunch fresh or frozen cilantro to my basic morning smoothie of: Unsweetened Almond Milk, Plain Unsweetened Pro-Biotic whole milk yogurt, 1 raw egg, 1/2 frozen banana- frozen in pieces, handful of frozen blueberry's and 2 scoops of Vital Protein's bovine collagen powder.
Cilantro ruined the taste but got it down.
About twice a year, I notice a few papules in my torso area, no idea if they are GD or something else, that itch or hurt and appear occasionally I simply put my half bunch of cilantro in the blender with about 1/2 cup of water and chug it down without breathing. I don't notice the taste that way and my morning smoothie tastes delicious.
For the past month I noticed a few of these papules on my stomach area, maybe 3 or 4 and if scratched would reappear like GD does and started on cilantro for about 4 days. They are all gone.
Rashida- I so hope this herb helps you. I understand your suffering which affects your sleep, limits you and affects your quality of life.

3 ReactionsThank you, @gardeningjunkie! I don’t find the taste of cilantro too objectionable - could I just add some seasoning to the half bunch of cilantro, like tamarind chutney, salt, pepper, a bit of cayenne, cumin powder, turmeric powder, etc., and make a paste to swallow, instead of a smoothie?
Or cinnamon or ginge ( powder or fresh).

3 ReactionsI like gardeningjunkie had success with Cilantro. I froze mine and added fresh fruit, yogurt sometimes, juice and honey. When the drink is cold and a bit sweeter it’s more palatable.

3 ReactionsThe connection between Grover’s Disease and mercury has long been recognised. I had my first (and only) outbreak of GD in 2008 following receipt of a flu shot. I subsequently found that the vaccine contained a mercury compound (thimerosol) as a preservative. Since then I have avoided vaccines containing mercury and have had no further outbreak of GD, although the first outbreak lasted nearly a year.

1 ReactionPlease consume it anyway you want: paste, salad, smoothie. Also add any nutritional or flavorful additives you want. I only experimented with raw, not cooked cilantro. I never read a blog of someone using cooked cilantro as a heavy metal detox. Most used about a giant handful daily, about a half a bunch, but some consumed an entire bunch a day. Few reported positive results with cilantro oil, plus I liked the added nutritional value of the fresh cilantro. Yet if the cilantro looked great, I bought extra to freeze to extend the time between shopping trips.

2 ReactionsThank you for pointing out that thimerosal is a mercury compound.
I do loved mussels which are reportedly very high in mercury. I only allow myself to have them several times a year now.
Tuna and sword fish as well. Stay away from farmed Talapia.
