Proceed after stent surgery
My husband had an angiogram after some no major pressure sometimes in his heart area/ chest.
One of his main artery was closed 85%, so he got a stent.
He still, 5 weeks later has these pressures here and there, got told it is normal because of the procedure.
We are a little confused, thought he would be fine without any pressure afterwards
Any experience with this?
Does he really has to take statins even if his numbers of Cholesterol are fine now?
Doctors say yes, a lot of people tell you to stay away from statins because of the side effects?
We appreciate any thoughts and ideas.

The youtube quacks who claim statins are the devil are morons. Statins not only lower your lipids they can also help "cap" the existing soft plaque issues your husband may have.
You state his cholesterol numbers are fine, but how low are they? He needs to have a thorough heart to heart with his cardiologist and stop listening to the quackery.

“ it’s needful to take them at least for 6 months, to protect from closures, special stent area.
The good thing, he has no side effects until now.
did you mean no side effects or now has side effects?
also, i don't know your husbands age, but why the seeming aversion to life saving medications with no proven long term use side effects? Its unbelievably important to have your ldl-c <50, not 100, not 75 as recommended and there really is no minimum number so accept the greatness of statins and use them as directed.

My ha/stent placement was at 67 so we share some commonality. I was slow to embrace medications never having used them but the deeper I got into (trying) to understand wtf is going on the more I realized we are at the last part of our lives and how important it is to stop adding to the burden that already exists. I am very aggressive in my medications, more aggressive than my cardiologist's initial recommendations. I want the numbers of a 30 yr old triathlete lol- and I have em.
Certainly if we were in our 40s or 50s longterm medications might be an issue to consider, but certainly not now.

1 ReactionI had a stent a week ago and I have to say that I was told after a week you would be fine. Well I am not. I still have the pressure your husband has. I know it is only a week but what bothers me is what I was not told. First the blood thinner I have to be on for a year and 2nd everyone said after a week it would be great it is not. Every morning after breakfast I am nauseous and I really can only eat a few bites and just don’t want to eat anymore. I sure hope this all subsides.

1 ReactionMy husband had these pressure symptoms after his stent for about 6 weeks. We were very anxious and had the feeling, the cardiologist didn’t take us serious.
Our family doctor told us that that can be very normal, what a relief, and it was true.
He was on statins for a year and is still taking Aspirin 81mg.
Hope you have the same experience.

1 ReactionI have 3 stents. Your condition depends upon your general physical condition prior to the stents. I will presume that you are not overweight and don't have other complicating medical factors. I had surgery for an aneurysm and cardiac hypertrophy on Feb 2nd. It took until now for me to regain my strength. If you are heavy you must change you habits.

Single best thing is to be normal weight and ensure diet supports best health.
