HABIT Program …we are in!!😊🙏🏻

Posted by randywhite @randywhite, Jan 12, 2023

My wife and I were wait listed on the January Scottsdale HABIT MCI management session. While we were not first in line as it happened a last-minute cancellation created an opening for the wait line folks. We were not first in line, but other folks could not respond on short notice while we could. We are very gratified that we are able to attend this 10 day retreat workshop event in Scottsdale. I believe this may be instrumental in making advancements in optimal living for our lives.

That’s great. Please post what you think of the program and if you feel it is worth attending. We were on the list and got into the program in November but my husband declined as it meant driving back and forth everyday from Surprise. He felt it was just too much to do.

@randywhite Randy, it will be great to hear from you as you go through this program. Are you up to journaling the process, and how it affects you and your wife? I imagine that looking back in the future, at notes you take, may provide a lot of insight and more thought-provoking ideas!

Congratulations on getting into this program!

Typically I will take notes and may do photo and short video captures. It’s good that you indicated interest though because it motivates me a little differently and amplifies my typical interest.
I will be in touch.

Just for fun, I’ve added the foot picture here this is kind of like my wife and I on the left you see a barefoot, authentic and open to the world. On the right, there is one covered with a sock that is cautious and guarded. Wanna guess?

Your wife on the left- open to any help. You on the right , more skeptical and guarded.???
Best to you both with this program.
A month or two ago there was mention about HABIT on this site and a link to click for information. I clicked that- but have heard nothing. I was wanting to know of any vacancies for 2023?

Actually I’m the open one, and GG is the skeptical and guarded one. We have compromised throughout our lives but more so, recently as fears have invaded. So, to respect GG’s less open nature, we are framing this HABIT program as a ‘couples retreat to optimize living well in aging times’…. Fortunately the Lord gives me the armor to protect from the invaders, and I know fear is the enemy of courage.
I was able to interchange with Jeanne at Mayo Scottsdale and she was very helpful. About the HABIT program.

As we found the April sessions are booked and wait listed, and August, October and on are open. See screen clip for the AZ events.

Thank-you for your willingness to share your thoughts and observations, as the program proceeds. Also, thank-you for the link, I had never heard of the program and it sounds well-rounded and exciting. Hope you both have a great experience.

I am very pleased to respond to your question regarding the benefits and value of the HABIT program at the MAYO CLINIC. My wife and I attended this program 2 years ago and it was the best decision my wife and I ever made. I had just been diagnosed with MCI and I decided to find the resource that would help me take it on!
This is an investment you will readily give you confidence that you can live and cope with your cognitive abilities. Over the 2 weeks you and your caregiver are given a toolkit to take on and and function with some adjustments. You will boost your self esteem and wellness of life functioning.
Finally, this is a group based program so you will establish friendships and a support group to connect with via the monthly HABIT Alumni meetings . You will feel better prepared for the journey ahead and I assure that you will also inspire others with your attitude and understanding of using the tool kit you have been given.

I have heard such good things about the HABIT program! Is it available via Zoom? We don’t live near any of the Mayo campuses. TY

Thank you so much for posting this. Do you regularly use the tools they taught you? I’m concerned we’d spend the time and money to attend and my husband would not follow the program.
