Covid Positive: Any tips to get thru this healthy and quicker?

Posted by dh524 @dh524, Jan 12, 2023

Hi after 3 years of isolation and only curbside pickup delivery my husband got Covid and then I did two days later. We have not seen any people so he got this either from curbside, deliveries or on his walk which is behind our house far away at least a football field from anyone. So now here we are has that happened to anyone else? I am also wondering if anyone has tips for symptoms and to get thru this healthy and quicker? We have started paxlovid and both have had the bivalent booster. Thank you so much!

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables if you are able to in order to maximize your nutrition. Drink plenty of fluids too. Lots of rest, but walk around a little bit every hour or two. People that rush things too quickly are more likely to have symptoms that linger. Give yourself some grace to just heal.

Pepcid. Look it up. My 87 yr old Mother took it(I told her to)80 mg a day for abt 6-7 days. She got well in 11 days. An she has SEVERAL pre-existing including Pulmonary Fibrosis. I had researched abt pepcid to relieve symptoms quicker an help long covid. She did start awful Paxlovid. 2 doses an severe g.i. symptoms. She is diabetic an on insulin. Has to eat an actually be able to get out of bed. I told her stop it. Hypoglycemia. I'm not sure why this Dr gave it to her Day 5 an she was getting better then not worse. It is given before day 5 an only to pt's who are at risk for severe reactions to covid was my understanding. But Dr's are handing out like candy to everyone! Getting a kickback maybe for so many prescriptions??? So she was well in abt 11 days. Sister, 58, not so lucky. She didn't start pepcid an got VERY sick. Took Paxlovid an then rebounded day 15 or 16. All over again. Very sick. Had to go back to Dr. Shot an antibiotic. Sick for 4 was. So not a fan of Paxlovid nor vax. None of us have gotten vax. All of us took, Zinc, quercetin, vit d, multi vit, gargle with Listerin alot, sometimes a mask if in very large crowds. All of us staved it off until this past summer an fall of 22. Only sick 10 days. Started pepcid 80mg first day positive an took 6 days. Along with other supplements. I'm not saying it's a cure. I'm saying what I researched an what seemed to help us. I'm in Ned field to an not anti vax. But I am anti this vax an boosters. I believe vax an boosters lower immunity in the body for everything . Other diseases. MY OPINION. Everyone has a rt to do what they see is good for them. It's America. But I hope you get well very soon. I had it (53) in June this yr. Mine was like a horrible flu. No cough. No nasal. Severe headache. Severe body pain. Chills. Fever 103 with Tylenol an Ibup, nausea/vomiting (1x), lost smell/taste for a mnth, fatigue bad, symptoms lasted 6 days then disappeared slowly. Husband had diff symptoms. Like mild cold. I had antibodies tested 2 mnths later an VERY high. No sickness since. Everyone is diff.

This is excellent advice. I’ve been noticing that nutrition, sleep hygiene and regular breaks are very beneficial and reduce long-C symptoms.

How long did you wait to start the Paxlovid after you had signs of Covid? I had Covid the end last week in Oct. 2022 and it took me almost 3 months to feel like myself again. I would suddenly get tired and naped constantly, as I was too tired to do any activity. I took my multi vitamins, B12 and D3 daily. Weather this really helped or not I really don't know.
I don't think most doctors don't know all there is to know about Covid. Get plenty of rest, eat good food, take a supplement if you think that might help. All the best to you.
