Let's put together a Barrett's esophagus friendly diet we could download or print off this site. It sure would be nice! Thanks

All dressings have vinegar or tomato products in them. When I eat a salad, I take a bite of the salad, chew it up and then I take a drink of almond milk and swish it around my mouth and then swallow. Almond milk is alkaline so my thinking is it will neutralize the acid in the dressing. Maybe it works, I'll find out next year when I have my EGD for BE done.

Omeprazole 20 mg is over the counter. A dose of 40 mg is by prescription and is therefore tax deductible.

U need to spend $M before your medical is tax deductible.

With B.E. any suggestions on store bought salad dressing with lower acid. I'm seeing conflicting suggestions.

Take a peek at the Skinny Girl salad dressings. They're all sugar free and fat free. My biggest culprits are fat, tomato, and citrus, and white vinegar gives me a fit, but I've found a couple Skinny Girls that I can have a bit of. You can get them at Walmart, and you can look online at the ingredients to see which you might be able to try.

Best wishes,

Maybe replace regular vinegar with apple cider vinegar. May not make a difference, but won't be worse.

Both are acidic foods.

Green Tea is powerfully anti-cancer. Also Pomegranate fruit. If an apple is stewed it firms pectin which is gentle going down and also great for the lining of the intestines.

@graceandpeace I think I’m a real anomaly. My BE never seems bothered by any food, the only sign of it that I have ever had is hoarseness! That was the first indication. The omeprazole has kept that in check for a long time and my endoscopes have been good but I am getting a little hoarse recently so I am a bit anxious for my endoscopy scheduled in September.

If my endoscopy indicates I need to be more cautious, I will buy that book. Thanks for the info.

@rexsan20 If your BE is silent, how does your endoscopy look? The last time I had one my gastroenterologist said my BE was in remission. If yours is in remission too then I guess just keep doing whatever you have been doing.

I do occasionally get hoarse but there does not seem any consistent reason for that.
