Fatigue every afternoon - How can I get more energy?
I am 75 and am very tired every afternoon. I need a two hour nap. My blood work is good. Any comments that can help me get more energy?

What is the medical organization you are referring to?
Hi @bonniemc728, Welcome to Connect. While we wait for @billmoskowitz to reply to your question to what medical organization he was referring to, I thought I would share a few references with you.

My primary does not want to give me shots - only tablets - do I have a right to get the shots ?
I have a general interest in this topic and am always keeping an eye out for tips and suggestions on aging well.
The organization that i was referring was the "American Academy of Orthomolecular medicine". I brought this to this site so as to add to the diversity of information that is presented. I am not a member of that organization, but reference is sometimes madeto them from the publication, "Life Extension". While scanning the literature for more information on prostate cancer, I came across two drugs that I only seen for the first time, and would like to have feedback on them. They are: XANDI and ZYTIGA. So if anyone has had experience with them, I would like to know about it.
My experience is that the shots were significantly more effective than the pills
Correction to my previous reply. The ,, Acadany of Orthomolecular Psychiatry"

I am 81 and don’t generally have afternoon fatigue but will occasionally nap 20 minutes or so in the late afternoon. I think that is normal. I take a lot of vitamins….have done so for years …and one of them is a Vitamin B complex plus by Pure Encapsulations. I am active and try to avoid sugar and gluten as much as possible. You could take the vitamin in liquid form for faster absorption. I am curious as to why he did not want you to take B12 shots.

Hi. I am 79 and stay physically and mentally active. I take 20 - 30 minute naps most mid-afternoons. Additionally, exercise seems to give the necessary vigor each day. Staying active has been the effective prevention for fatigue, which seems counter intuitive.
If you are able, walk every day. Short distances at first, then increasing the distance as you begin to strengthen. If walking is not easy, then ride a bicycle or stationary bicycle. Movement is essential.
I pray for your motivation to do so.
My Alexander Instructor told me today that if she does brisk exercise in the AM it gives her more energy later in the day. She should know, as she is also a dancer. I am a morning person and am more mentally productive then, nodding off in the afternoons. Maybe I will titrate a brisk walk in the mornings enough to hopefully decrease afternoon napping time. Or start my day earlier. Sounds like this requires tweaking, any success stories?
