Grover's Disease: What works to help find relief?
I have been diagnosed with Grover's disease under my breasts. I had a biopsy for diagnosis. Tried topical ointment with no really good results. Any ideas?

Does anyone change is diet or eliminate some food and saw change?
I have been using these XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cream and the Aveno restorative itch cream
Is it helping?
Yes it has been helping to keep the itch down
I have a dermatologist who claims to be an expert in this disease. He recommended a blood test to see how much mercury is in my system. There was plenty. So I am off seafood. After another month, I will take another blood test to see if the amount of mercury Chas lessened. Also he prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP, 0.1%. Apply 2x day. It has lessened the itching and most of the pink/red dots on my skin are gone. Itch and rash are not completely gone after one refill. The doctor emphasizes having patience. There is also a drug to help remove the mercury from my system which I have not received yet.
I've used triamcinalone for years, but it's a strong steroid. I learned of Aveve XeraCalm balm on a Grovers Facebook group and have had some success with it.
Have you tried a heavy metal detox using cilantro. Blend 1/2 bunch of cilantro with water or other smoothie ingredients. Drink daily for about 2 months. I learned about this on the Mayo skin site from GD suffers. It puts it into remission for about 40% of us. I noticed some improvement in 3 weeks, definitely in remission after 2 months and kept it up for 6 months out of fear it would return. I've been clear now for years. Previously my pattern was this, first outbreak at age 65 for one full year, covering all of front and back torso, then 6 months of remission, followed by 6 months of rashes on torso only to repeat. Mine was not only itchy but painful. That pattern held for about 4-5 years until I tried cilantro. Also Google the connection between heavy metals and Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Grover's Disease. Blood can be chelated by doctors to remove heavy metals, but there are many internet sites with suggestions on how to do this yourself. Besides cilantro, oregano and other herbs work.
On the Mayo discussion a group of us tried it and as mentioned about 40% went into remission. It did take about 3 years for my skin not to be sensitive and return 100% to feeling normal. Perhaps it takes that long to heal internally from the damage.
It's of interest to me that your dermatologist did a blood test for mercury. Neither of my derms were interest in my success doing a home heavy metal detox. Maybe the word is getting out.
Let us know what this metal detox drug is and keep other posted of your progress.
Checking in! It's been a while and I hope you're doing well Gardening junkie. My Grover's is still in remission or cured since using the smoothies a few years ago. Doctors still don't seem to want to share this information because it, so far, is not science-backed. But enough people here have found relief by consuming cilantro. It only costs a few cents a day. If anyone is suffering from Grover's, it's worth a try!
