Has anyone had a tight band feeling after total knee replacement?
I am 8 weeks post TKR and have had this very tight band around my knee since week one. My Dr at 6 wks says it is normal and will go away. Has anyone else had this and did it go away and when?

I am 16 months out and still have that feeling ☹️. Waiting 3 more months for second opinion. Heating pad 3 times a day plus nerve pain pills at night, k tape as much possible. Last X-ray looked good according to surgeon. I hope it is something treatable without surgery again.
I hope they have looked into whether or not you have a Baker’s cyst
Good for you. The only thing I'd add is icing. I know it sounds counter intuitive, but heat increases inflammation and pain, ice reduces it. I think you can do both but check with Dr.
I have same 20 months after TKR. Plus burning in knee cap, painful calf and numb foot. Confusion about whether it is from back, but I never had it before TKR. Will look for 2nd opinion after the new year. I know I have tibial torsion and that has prolonged my recovery, but I too am frustrated and on meds. I would love to hear from someone who after two years pain resolved. Guess I am groping for hope! Best wishes for your pain relief!
I did ice for a year but new myofascial release therapist recommended heat to soften fascia. Am down to two 25 mg pills Lyrica at night. Tape give the best relief.
Interesting, thanks. What is k tape?
K tape is kinesiology tape. Google it and you may recognize it. Generally used for sports injuries. I used extra sticky by Rock Tape.
I had a very tough time with recovery from knee replacement and I was very discouraged. The PT outside of the home was a huge help and I had a wonderful therapist who was so encouraging. However, I will say that my Boston doctor told me that it takes a full two years to recover from TKR. I know that some people do very well with it and recover much sooner, but I was not one of those people. It has now been two years and three months, and *finally*, my knee is feeling much better. However, I do not have that complete bend in my knee anymore and it’s tough because I have a bad back and the stretching that I have done for years I can no longer do. I just do the best that I can with it, but my left knee, which needs knee replacement, is in better shape than the right knee with the TKR!!! Just want to tell you that given time, you will notice a healing and a strengthening on the surgical knee. Stretch your calf every day and do exercises to increase the muscle strength in your thighs. I have found that those exercises help. Definitely, always get a second opinion with a fresh set of eyes! All of my best to you for complete healing.
@mabfp3 Thank you for the encouraging words. A gift of the season! Several friends with no issues have tainted my perspective. Plus, I am just tired of it! April will be two years so I will try to be more patient! After that, a second opinion! Best! Rennie
How was the tape positioned on your knee?
