Mycophenolate or Myfortic: Do you have GI side effects?
Liver tx-2008 14 years later Im only on 500mg 2x daily of mycophelonate. BUT its tearing up my entire GI tract - stomach ulcer, gastritis, colitis , UC that resolved. My quality of life has gone down the drain. Is there anyone else experiencing GI side effects from Mycophelonate and what have you done to deal with it?

I trust my doctors infinitely more than I trust you.

I've got a13+ years liver/kidney transplant history. My experience is different that yours, and with everyone else on here. We are all different, and our medications, side effects, and medical history will not be the same.
I am sorry that you are having an experience that is less than satisfactory.
I can sense your frustration with your current situation, and I trust that your comment was meant to be helpful. Please keep in mind that we, the members on Connect, we are here to share experiences. I want to refer to #1a in the Connect Guidelines:

Hi jp1023,
I am also curios to know what blood work numbers lowered to.
I am taking myfortic also, I was hoping to get off it and take only prograf if my TP team oks of course, when I go for my next visit I am going to ask about it.😊
WBC, RBC, eosinophils, etc.etc. I’m also anemic. I haven’t had any side effects from the Myfortic. It’s so much easier on my body. When I went in to see the Dr while on Mycophenalate, he was extremely concerned. He said I was usually lively and engaged, but I was just sitting there exhausted. Also, I had to stick close to a bathroom. So happy to not deal with that- it was like being back on the lactulose!
Oh no we definitely do not want to have those days🚽 back.. so glad you are feeling better. Just part of TP ups downs for sure.
Hang in there😊💚
My new transplant MD at Mayo JAX just dropped my Mycophenolate and added 5mg of prednisone to the 5mg I was already taking my kidney transplant in 2017. The relief from bowel issues was immediate and now after a few months with only occasional need for immodium I feel free! I get labwork every 2-3 months to make sure my kidney function remains stable. So far so good! Good luck and don’t give up finding a solution.
Sorry you are having these GI issues. It has caused small ulcers in my bowel so I feel your pain. As others have mentioned your transplant team may be able to reduce your dose. I had good relief when mine have reduced the dose. So keep the faith!
What dose and type of Immunosuppressants were you on and what did they reduce you to? Where were your ulcers -mine are in my stomach? Did your ulcers go away? Did you try Myfortic as that is what Ive been switched to?
Im liver tx 2008 on 360 mg Myfortic 2x daily
Hi @bosco17 😊
I hope all is well with you! I may be changing from MMF to Myfortic due to gastritis and acid reflux. What has been your experience with Myfortic?
Thanks in advance for any scoop you can share! (Pros and cons)
