What are your housing recommendations for Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ?

@1hockeyjeff I have not been to the Phoenix Mayo campus, but on the Mayo website there is some information for Phoenix about accommodations for an extended stay for long term cancer or transplant treatment called the Village at Mayo Clinic. Here is the link to the page on the website which has a phone number to call.

"The Village at Mayo Clinic is an on-site hospitality house — a low-cost, extended-stay lodging option. These spacious casitas are reserved for families of out-of-town patients who are receiving transplant or long-term cancer treatment. Call 480-609-1324 for lodging and updated information."

Do they have anything like that in Rochester for a 2 week stay? Can't afford a hotel. Maria.

@mariajean03 There are some Hospitality House lodging places in Rochester for patients who qualify because they need an extended stay for treatment for conditions like transplants or cancer or some neurological conditions that require longer treatment times.

If you don't qualify for those, it would be best to contact the free Concierge services and they can assist with a list of recommendations. If you need to pay for a hotel, in general, if it is farther from the Mayo campus, the rates are usually lower and they may have free parking. Closer in, hotels cost more and usually charge a parking fee. I used the Concierge services and they were very helpful.

Hi and I do live near Mayo Phoenix and when I had my Heart Transplant we had to stay close for a few weeks after. We live about 70 miles from there and didn't want to drive that far daily. We ended up at a smaller Motel in Scottsdale about 20 min away as the hotels near the Hospital were much more expensive. But we did try to get into the housing on-site but the waiting list was too long and never got to use that. Since then when I have a lot of tests or multiple days we will stay at a hotel that isn't to bad on price about 3 miles from the Hospital, unfortunately the time of year is not good for price since it's winter and all prices in winter due to our influx of visitors makes the prices double. So you could pay as much as 200 a night for a basic hotel.
My transplant was in January so that's why we chose one a bit further away and had a small kitchen to prepare our food. But if you don't have a car it would mean renting one. Here is the name of it Extended Stay America and here is a link to it currently they are at 83 a night and if it's for a longer period you may get a deal.

The only Hotel on site at the campus is in my opinion too expensive even in the summer when rates are like in the 50-80 range 3 miles away they were like 200.
Also I like 2 hotels about 3 miles away which are my favorite are usually around 120-130 and offer a Mayo rate so call them directly and they are Cambra and Holiday Inn express both next to each other on East Irma Lane but right now they are about 180-200 a night. Winter is the most expensive time to visit Arizona unfortunately. The other option I know some have done is to rent an rv, I have no experience in that area but we have lots of rv parks all over Arizona. Let me know if I can help further

We are currently staying at the Help in Healing Home. It is a wonderful place just behind the Mayo Hospital. Pets aren’t allowed. Our social worker gave us a very complete list of hotels and long-term rentals, many of which offer a Mayo discount. I’d suggest you ask yours for a list. We’ve stayed at the Best Western Thunderbird on Butherus (5 miles) and the Holiday Inn Express on Irma. They allow pets. We also stayed at an air BnB on Tatum. Keep in mind that rates and availability are going to be severely impacted during the Super Bowl and the Phoenix Open, and in fact you may have to move more than once.

We have two dogs and found staying at an Airbnb the best option, for costs and having a fenced in yard to potty the dogs. Jan and Feb the Snowbirds are in the Phoenix area and maybe competition. We had to stay in places up to a 30 minute drive from May Clinic in Phoenix or in the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale Campuses.
