Do you have urinary incontinence after prostatectomy & radiation?
Hello, I underwent a prostatectomy in Sep 2017. Gleason score of 9 with a positive margin. 8 months later began radiation tx with rising PSA. As of this date my PSA's have been undetectable however, I continue to have moderate to severe incontinence. I have seen two urologists with one suggestion the male sling and the other the artificial urinary sphincter for relief. I'm looking for any men with experience in either of these procedures and your comments. Thank You

After reading some of the posts regarding incontinence after a prostatectomy, I feel like sharing my experiences. I had a prostatectomy combined with the removal of a large bladder diverticula 5 1/2 years ago. I still have a number of diverticula which causes retention. I also had green light laser surgery about 10 years ago. Due to the fact that I was experiencing some control problems when this "adventure" began, I remain incontinent. Since a bladder sling can cause retention, I was told that I was not a candidate for that kind of procedure. Another option was the AUS. Since I am dealing with lots of heart problems, and recently had back surgery, I have opted for no further invasive surgeries. Some of surgeries to correct incontinence come with their own problems. I deal with my incontinence by wearing diapers. I was ashamed and embarrassed at first, but after so many years of tests and procedures I said enough is enough. It was somewhat difficult accepting my need to wear diapers, but it gets easier in time. I'm 75 years old. My wife just passed away suddenly from Creutzfeldt Jakob disease, so I'm getting through life the best I can with the least number of disruptions. Sorry for this rant.

As you say you have 1 lymph node infected I am curious to know what you PSA is reading.
3 years after RP I have a PSA of 0.23 and 1 lymph node showing posible activity on pet/Psma scan.
The public health oncologist is recommending
30 x SRT and ADT,
Private specialist is advocating active surveillance and I'm not 100% sure which to follow, I am leaning towards active surveillance.
My PSA tests, three of them, all have been <0.01 Undetectedable. I’m getting tested every three months.
Correction: My PSA was <0.1.

Maybe ask the doctor if you can hold off on the radiation treatments and just start on the Erbealeda?
I had that issue after radiation. My doctor put me on Mybetriq and it did wonders. You can mail order the stuff from Canada if you have a prescription. Six months later I stopped taking it because I no longer have a problem.

My oncologist and urologist said you start if you have any elevation in more than 2 Weeks or at .3 +with a higher Gleason being an even stronger reason..
Are they using an ultra sensitive test if not this could equal negative
We were getting PSA at fDoctors office because of time. And would get results of <1 or <2 Oncologists directed us to go to our little community hospital for ultra sensitive.. if you are higher Gleason this is important a Gleason 6 is treated a lot different than a Gleason 8 or 9…I am a Gleason 9 on Eligard starting radiation November 23..
