Sores in mouth

Posted by jkyc56 @jkyc56, Jun 21, 2022

Random occurring mouth sores & lesions with no underlying medical conditions. Does anybody have similar symptoms..? I have chronic sores on tongue that my friend saw and was “horrified”

So i noticed a growth on the top of my mouth above my teeth, it wasn’t painful for a while, but now it’s starting to get painful. I’m getting headaches that are blinding my neck hurts my teeth hurt my mouth hurts and now it’s starting to hurt my back. I’ve been trying to get into the dentist but they won’t call me back or anytime I call it just goes to voicemail. I’m about to just go up there and force him to see me because this is very painful. I was just wondering if anybody has experienced this I’m worried it could be something serious. Thank you.

Yes, I agree with the response from blondeboss. Make an appt with an ENT. Tell them it's urgent, and explain the details. Ask them if they can get you in as soon as possible. Any "growth" in your mouth is a major concern. I had a growth on the base of my tongue, so I know. I saw my ENT FIRST, not a dentist.

Hi @taradl22, I moved your post to this existing discussion in the Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) support group:
– Sores in mouth: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/sores-in-mouth/

I did this so you can see the previous helpful posts by @jkyc56 @loribmt @jfn @oldkarl @datty190 and connect with them easily.

As @blondeboss and @suz22 suggested, you might consider making an appointment with an ENT specialist.

I went through something similar. One of the many doctors had suggested an absolutely no sugar diet, which is awful. I did it for a short term, just to check the box. I was down to leafy greens chicken and pork (with just herbs and spices). Lots if supplements. The purpose of the diet was to reduce the sugar to reduce the acid. I had an orange tongue about which I have posted. The most successful treatment was the Clotrimazole tabs followed by clorahexadine mouthwash applied to my tongue with Q-tips (2 weeks). I also use a metal tongue scraper twice a day. After 2 weeks of this regimen the orange tongue went away. I went through many treatments, diets and docs.
I have not looked at my tongue for weeks!

My orange tongue is back! Back to chlorahexadine on q-tip and scraping.

Have you asked your dentist about "magic mouthwash" for your bumps. I would see an oral surgeon after the dentist, if no ideas are put forth, that work. Have you done a saltwater rinse?

@datty190

Yes .... Listerine

I've used Listerine for years and have never had a sore throat or mouth sores since I started using it 50 years ago. I used to have quite a few mouth sores and always seemed to get a sore throat. I would suggest using the original strong flavor. It works much better than the new flavored ones like the mint.
