For those of you that have had palpitations, what treatments have worked best to reduce them?

I’m interested what others say too. I currently take propranolol for tremors but it helps the palpitations too.

I take metoprolol which helps with palpitations. Both are beta blockers. Also increasing fluids and electrolytes mainly sodium and potassium really help.

I also take metoprolol as well and it controls palpitations for me.

I take Propranolol 10 mg before bedtime for migraines. It helps with the post Covid heart palpitations as well. I had stopped taking propranolol when I had shortness of breath from allergies and asthma prior to getting Covid. But when I went to the pulmonologist for Long Covid lung symptoms, I did the chest X-ray which was normal. The breathing tests came back low side of normal. I was given Spiriva Respimat 1 puff daily to open airways in my lungs. Then , I was cleared by my doctor to start taking propranolol again. The post-Covid racing heart beat slowed back to normal. And I work with a PT who does dry needling and gives me floor exercises to do to manage migraines. She worked on my rib cage behind my shoulder blades which allows my rib cage and lungs to take deeper breaths.

Should anyone drink I'd suggest getting your magnesium level checked. Although my father died before the pandemic hit he developed a irregular heart rhythm that landed him in a cardiac critical care unit. They found his magnesium level was low & he was sent out of this unit soon after he received magnesium to bump his level up. Magnesium returned him to his baseline rhythm.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I am having trouble with palpitations also. My resting heart rate is normally around 60. Post Covid sometimes it goes up to 80. My electrolytes have been a little low on recent labs. I also take a beta blocker. Trying to get in touch with my cardio about all this. They are booked out for 2 months ahead. I will try to contact her re possibly increasing my dose of bisoprolol.

I just got Covid May 2023. Had all my boosters. I'm 73. I'm on Metoprolol, my doctor suggested increasing my dose by half. I'm having the palpitations only 2-3 am, should I take all of the dose before bed? Currently I take it in the morning.

@1wildt, hi I know how scary the palpitations can be.. I had and still have this problem..it started after a covid infection last November, I also had sweating and shaking hands.. I did rule out any other possible problems first and I see you did the same, I’m 72 years old and I fought cancer twice in the past few years, I do find it gets better with time.. I still have symptoms but I noticed that anxiety sets them off..it’s kind of a vicious cycle because the symptoms make me nervous and they get worse so I try not to stress too much and breathing helps me too but I also take 0.5 mg of lorazepam twice daily and it’s also helpful.
