Total Knee Repair Revision: A Success Story
Hi all I I am 1 week out of revision today . I must say this recovery has been so different from my first. I have so much more movement in my knee …. My leg goes straight….. my flexion work in progress but I was at .70 right out of surgery ….. I was there a year after tkr…..struggling of course with inflammation which I expected….I am icing and going to my therapist to help with edema…. I started pt this week also so you know how it goes take to where you can than push little more…..the pain really sucks going through this all over again I have not forgot the pain from last time … but the difference is I know I am seeing results already….even with the pain for right now I am so glad I did revision….. good luck to others going through and might be going through this .

I just talked to a good friend today - 5 weeks after surgery in Nebraska, she is ready to head for the winter in Texas next week. Said she is up to walking 1/2 mile twice a day in addition to her exercises. She reported that her worst enemy now is late afternoon fatigue, but she worked all summer to get ready for surgery and it really helped. By the way, she is closer to 80 than 70, and we call her our "Energizer Bunny"

One mile a day 5 weeks after surgery for a woman nearing 80? Wow, good for her!
Five weeks after surgery mile a day I will call her super woman …. That is awesome….
i remember the pain from last time and that is why i opted for PRP and so far it has worked.
What is prp?
100 days out I started a new exercise to work on straightening my leg a little more….well I am swollen and in pain …. I have been mainly focusing on flexion so I thought ok time to start bringing some other exercises in to straighten my leg …. I went to mfr yesterday a day early it helped not as bad today …..I even took day of exercise yesterday that’s rare for me …..not sure how to approach straightening my leg …..I am off by few degrees ….but I will figure it out I took one step back now I am looking forward to the few steps forward …..
Hi exas,
You can work on improving extension (getting your extended leg to zero degrees) by propping your foot up on a large, firm pillow or yoga bolster. Your knee will just hang in space and tend to straighten over time. You can even push on it and hold that for a few seconds every once in a while. Just don't push past pain. You should feel a good stretch.
You're doing great! Keep it up!
Joe
I think it's Platelet-Rich Plasma - it's injected into the knee. I don't know much about it. If pain in the knee is not overbearing, some of these remedies, like cortisone shots, can provide some relief. I think it's temporary though.
platelet rich plasma, comes from your body. shaken and stirred and injected back into the body. Look it up.
Thank you all for the info … Joe thanks for always having great tips ….. but unfortunately the one I have been doing is straightening out and applying some pressure to a stretch …. So right now I am lucky I am getting any exercise in … Saturday first day I did not exercise in a very long time … I must say I felt off …. But it feels a little better i am still struggling with pain and stiffness but I am exercising through it…. Maybe needs few more days …. I am in new hurry to work on straightening again …thank you all …. Funny I finished pt last week she told me don’t get frustrated you may have set backs just get through it and see where things went off start again …..
