Anyone have nausea or other GI issues with Trintellix?

Although Trintellix is suppossed to be "tolerated well", I was sick the entire time I was on it. I had bad nausea, vomitting and diarrhea the entire time I was on it. I started with 5 mgs. with the plan to increase it gradually as I developed tolerance to any side effects. I gradually increased the dose from 5mg. to 7.5mg and was so sick that I couldn't go above that dose. I found OTC meds helped decrease the S.E., but I shouldn't have to take more pill inorder to tolerate Trintellix . I was fine with taking another med short term until I develooped tolerance to the side effects, but after 5 mg that didn't happen-no tolerance. It was finally stopped. I hope people on it do better than I did.

I'm really hoping this conversation is still going. I took Trintellix in 2020 and got extremely sick within the first couple of weeks. Vomiting, nausea, stomach pain, stomach bloating, exhaustion, weight loss. They did a battery of tests because no one could explain why I was so sick. I only took this drug for THREE MONTHS and I was diagnosed with a non curable disease called Gastroperesis that feels like I have the flu every day. It's so severe that my life basically stopped in 2020. Has anyone had a slow motility or Gastroperesis diagnosis from this drug??

Good morning. I have been on Trintelix about 5 months. Started with 10mg for about 6 weeks. During the 1st couple of weeks I vomited twice. No nausea, just a feeling in my throat that caused me to vomit, only bile, no stomach contents. We increased to 20mg after about 7 weeks. A couple of months ago the vomiting started again, 2-3 times a week. Again, no associated nausea, just a feeling in my throat that causes me to vomit bile. It's brief, but the feeling in my throat is present most of the time. Of note, I have been under considerable pressure at work for several months so it is possible the vomiting might be a result of stress, although I have never been a stress vomiter.

I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience, and if ultimately the vomiting subsided. I have experienced improvement with the use of Trintelix (I had previously been on Viibryd for roughly 10 years but it was no longer doing the job).

I’ve just started taking it (2nd day) and on 5mg for first week before increasing to 10mg. I’ve never had nausea from any of my other medications but my Dr did warn me re this one, and sure enough I’m feeling it for last 2 hours since taking my dose. I know everyone is saying it can last for a few days etc but is it constant or just a few hours in the morning after taking it?

Nausea was one of side effects for me which lasted all day.

I just started Trintellix three days ago and each day the nausea has gotten worse. I have IBS and a very sensitive stomach. I asked my doctor to prescribe me an anti nausea medication today because I know if it continues to make me this sick I’ll quit taking it. She didn’t call anything in just said to start taking it at night instead of the morning. Any helpful advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated because being that nauseous is one of my biggest weaknesses. I just can’t tolerate it. Thank you.

I'm also on Trintellix, been on it for over a year now and have had cycilic vomitting with this medication the entire time...its not every day but when it does happen it is horrible nausea and extremely violent stomach convulsions and vomitting. My prescriber doesn't think its Trintellix because I've been on it a year and the vomitting is sporadic. Drug works well but my quality of life I may as well be severely depressed and my depression has worsened because no doctors can help me...I've had every single tes t all bloodwork, hormones, even upper endoscopy are normal...saw a rheumatologist and was tested or all autoimmune disease and absolutely nothing physically wrong with me. I suspect this has something to do with sodium channels and serotonin which I know a lot of serotonin is produced in the stomach. This med is not worth the horrible nausea and in fact I feel worse than when I started Trintellix. I told my doctor that I'm quitting it immediately and won't be taking it again. I feel like I've been ignored and poisoned and spent the last year of my life afraid to leave my home and vomitting everywhere, when I barfed all over myself at the gym last week that was it...done with this and would never recommend Trintellix to anyone that asks my opinion.

My granddaughter has been on Trintellix for a year and has had nausea and vomiting to the point where she saw a specialist and had an endoscopy. Nothing was found. Her doctor said she could reduce her dosage and that would tell her if the Trintellix is the cause. In her experience people could tell the difference in side effects right away. Granddaughter spiraled down and needed to resume the previous dosage with no relief from vomiting. Has anyone had a similar experience? What else can she do to determine the cause?

Had to stop taking this med because of nauseous

I'm feeling the same way. It hasn't made any difference on my mood even on the higher dose. Wondering if this is a good choice for trauma symptoms.....?
