Neuropathy Pain at Night: What helps?
THC or marijuana for me relieves pain from neuropathy. It works every time takes a few minutes and a few puffs of smoke and it comes it down for some crazy reason that makes this drug so popular.

We all know, As is now and until….. on, the decision rest on each. The research and provided information to me in convincing NOT TO USE. But , with as many others WESTERN MEDS PRESCRIBED, I see no reason why NOT.
Will keep posted. WILL GO ON LINE AND USE THE PREFERRED MAKER AND START WITH A FEW STRANS fir NP pain if on my feet now on my hands and very aggressive in pain and everything else can be said about.
My feet have had for 10 yrs. Only bellow my ankles.
My hands began 2-3 yrs ago but after a carpal tunnel surgery which were my 1st symptoms.
Now it is NP. Same as my feet. More intense I say.
Thank you all .
I remain,
Carlos….
I see that I am not the only one whose neuropathic pain is worse at night. Has anyone ever been told, or figured out, why that is the case?
For me it seems I dont pay as much attention to my Neuropathy if I am up and moving, its when I stop and try to relax that seems to "flair" up
Hi @maggie1960, Even though I don't have pain with my neuropathy, the numbness and some tingling seems to also get worse for me at night. I do use a small pillow between my legs that seems to help some. I thought you might find some tips in this article helpful:
-- Why Is Neuropathy Worse at Night?: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/why-is-neuropathy-worse-at-night/
I also make sure I put a skin moisturizer on my legs at night along with some white diabetic loose fitting socks that helps me identify any foot injuries that may have occurred during the night on one of my nightly trips. Are you on any pain medications for your neuropathy or have you tried any other alternative or complementary treatments to see if they help you sleep better with your neuropathy?
Hello @maggie1960. You are certainly not the only one who experiences more pain at night!
Before I go on, I wanted to let you know that I have moved your post into an existing discussion on neuropathy pain at night which you can find here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/night-pain-2/
This will allow you to more easily connect with others who are experiencing night pain, like you. Members such as @glaciermom @solobeee1 @artist01 and @bonniethompson1234 may be able to come in and share more with you.
The increased pain at night seems to have a correlation between typical drop in temperature and how the nerves respond to that change in the environment. Do you tend to sleep in a cooler room by chance?
The room I sleep in is not the coolest and I need a fan to circulate the air. My feet have always gotten cold quickly and even now and through the summer I wear my fuzzy slippers for cozy feet. A blanket goes over my feet only in the summer as I tend to fall asleep easier if my feet are warm.
I read somewhere on this site that if all else fails soak your feet in ice water for ten minutes. I have tried it and it freezes the nerve endings. It does bring some relief.
Does anyone have any thoughts about why neuropathy pain increases so much at night. Also can anyone share with me any digestive issues they are experiencing that could be related to neuropathy. Thanks. Cathy
